Its designer Vladimir Mikhail Baev, Designed this aircraft in 1984 Creating a proposal in 1985, Prototyping in 1986, and having it put into production for the Ruskovian Airforce and Navy in 1987. It was unavailable for export until 2001.
This model is the 1989 Production series with Parts commonality in mind but built for Heavy fighting and Close air support while maintaining its role as a fighter, It has a titanium tub around its pilot and tungsten plates distributed along its engines to protect it from MANPADS and SAM missiles.
This is the army variant with livery from the 15th Fighter Aviation Division Group A.
