Chessner R-232
The R-232 is Chessner's first ever propeller racing plane, inspired by planes such as the P-51 Mustang, He-100, Hawker Hurricane, and others. It is equipped with an 1000HP engine with 3 propellers, capable of taking this aircraft to speeds of up to 800Kp/h and still retain amazing manouverability.
Development: To deviate from their conventional merchandise, Chessner decided to build an affordable high performance race plane. This ended up, in 1962, in the R-232 which costs around 500K USD per unit. Maintenence is extremely cheap and it is still being sold and produced in 2020. A little curiosity is that the FAB (Força Aérea Brasileira or Brazilian Air Force) and the USAF actually had plans to incorporate these planes into service as the M-232A "Balluista" .
