Aesthetically, J2M8 is relatively unchanged, only featuring longer yellow segments on the wings as well as the Red Sun roundel on the tail section of the fuselage as well. However, it's performance where the J2M8 is a real threat. It's faster, more agile and stable, but most importantly received a firepower upgrade to tear through almost any enemy. Its armor is still nonexistent, but the J2M8 sort of relies on shooting down its enemies first to begin with.

Despite lacking flares, the J2M8 can stand its own against 5th gen fighters. Press X to doubt? Fine with me. J2M9 is the one you should be afraid of...

PEA Lore:
The J2M8 actually used to be a normal J2M5. He participated in several intercept missions, and was one of the most successful Raidens. Even back then, he was infamous for his glowing Sun insignias.
However, after the surrender of Japan (canon event in the PEAverse), many of their weapons were either taken or destroyed. Said J2M5 was one that was taken, but by unknown means, it ended up with TUPL instead of the U.S., and naturally TUPL decided, "oh yeah, that's juggernaut material right there." Long story short, the J2M5 in question was heavily upgraded, and re-designated to "J2M8." It currently resides in the MGLA/MDA Yeager base, and occasionally sorties to fight off the Sabrehogs.
However, it often ends up shredding the Soviet Air Force instead. Yes, that is an Su-27, again.

@Karroc9522 True, flying backwards alone won't save you from J2M8 (oof but lol)
However, the ACTUAL Backwards-Flying Su-27 (Ms. Prime Soviet Bias) has actually survived J2M8 attacks several times. Keep in mind though that the said Su-27 wasn't hit any of those times, so keep that in mind- if you get hit, don't expect to get away in one piece, if alive.

The I thought the screenshots never ended. I just kept infinitely scrolling and scrolling, then I realized my tablet was jumping back to the top for some godknowswhy reason 😂. Love that it can kill 5th gen planes like that. Just shreds their existence. It makes then think about themselves in the past tense with how fast their existence ends.
