XTD-1985 VLS Tank
Why does this exist
A long time ago (a few months), I had the idea to build a tank destroyer that houses vertically launched missiles. Research lead to hellfires, I drew it up, and the rest is history.
The design changed quite a bit.
Why is it designated an experimental vehicle?
It’s effective range is at max 7km, and at minimum 6.9km against ground targets. In reality, it works much better as a SAM vehicle.
Why use just one air search type radar, rather than other systems?
It originally had a different guidance system, but I eventually went with a more SAM type design. A more complex radar system would be included as a separate vehicle, dedicating this one to VLS.
Just how unnecessarily massive is this huge thing, considering it carries 30 VLS?
Good question. It’s roughly the same size as a full MBT, with hellfires instead of a missile like the tomahawk. In game, it is loaded with 10 missiles due to lag reasons, but feel free to add more.
The TM-1982 is relatively small. So at 7.1 meters the XTD-1985 is only a little bit larger.
