Prototype Transmission
This is my prototype for a transmission. It has three gears, and a clutch for when you need to switch between them. Here is how to use it:
First off, you put throttle as 100% to start the gears moving.
Second, you can start to move gear if you like. You are defaulted in 3rd gear. To move a gear, first put up the trim lever (the clutch) all the way up, then move the VTOL lever to what gear you want to be in. Once done, put the trim lever (the clutch) back to the middle. And make sure that you do all of this rather swiftly to prevent anything wrong to happen. The pic below shows where to put the lever for the different gears:
3rd Gear: higher torque and lower speed
2nd Gear: medium torque and medium speed
1st Gear: lower torque and higher speed
*This can be glitchy, but keep in mind it is just a prototype.
*I have tried to connect this to wheels, but it wouldn’t work well. I connected two gears in the back if one of you want to mess with it.
*Finally, this is a very laggy creation and I wouldn’t redommend it for mobile users, it runs on my IPad at about 10fps.
*If it does get stuck, then move the Trim and VTOL levers around a little, and that should loosen it.
*While you can do it without the clutch, it is less risky to use the clutch
*I have found a possible problem with the clutch, and I will try to fix it in my next version.
P.S. Thanks to Ryma232aeronautics and Aeroengineering for the idea
P.S.S. This is my first upload in a while haha. Hope y’all like it!

@WIZARD2017 Sure! Just mention me when you post it
can i use this?
This is awesome
@IzzyIA thanks
Nice!
I have posted a gif showing how to connect gears on imgur, the link to it is on my newest post “Gear Showroom”. Hope it helps @Genterprizes
@IzzyIA thx
Do you mean wouldn’t? Because if so there is a certain way that you have to place the gears so they don’t stick to eachother, plus they’re different types of the same gear that are needed to make it work. (I call the Gear A and Gear B version of a gear). I will post a gear showroom soon that will show all of my gears and tell how to use them.@Genterprizes
@IzzyIA yeah I tried and it went work
Yeah sure, just make sure you credit me in the description or something. Good Luck! @armanla777
Really emazing work can I use your gears in my designs???
Well you’d have to be more specific, but I’m pretty sure that tired in Simple Planes don’t collide with eachother, so they wouldn’t really work as a replacement for gears. @Genterprizes
@IzzyIA can't I just make a gearing set out of tires and fuselage blocks and rotators
I have absolutely no experience in modding, so idk if I could do that. But there is a mod I believe that has default gears, I’m pretty sure that @LimitedShelf568 is using it here , so maybe ask him about it. @Megaplanesinc
This is slightly laggy on my ipad and it can handle over 1300 parts but i can see why it would lag anything else besides a brand new device.
Very laggy for my tablet but yes very good do you think you could make this into a mod with more gears and less lagg pleas and thanks for this amazing creatshon
@Jayv210 thanks!
Nice, I’ve been trying to figure out how to make a transmission with more than 2 gears, this is pretty cool
@IzzyIA Nice, looking forward to it
Yes it should @LeoTanaka2243
If gear1 has, for example, 12tooth and gear2 is twice the radius of gear1, should there be 24tooth?
Ok, also make sure that the center of the gear is at
x = 0 and y = 0 so that the teeth get placed in the right place. Good luck! @LeoTanaka2243
@IzzyIA THANKS! I will try out!
