Bristol Bangalore GR MkXIII Coastal Command
This is the Bristol Bangalore GR MkXIII operated by coastal command. Some major differences from the original Mk1 Bangalore are evident in this model. The original Bristol Pegasus engines were upgraded to the mighty Hercules VI delivering 1650hp each, giving greater top speed and cruising efficiency at altitude. The prominent ASW radar masts are visible and the complement of ordinance reflect the nature of targets the MkXIII was expected to engage - 2x general purpose anti shipping torpedoes and 4x “depth charges”. Alongside the various other under strength squadrons at coastal commands disposal, the threat posed by the U-boat wolf packs operating in the atlantic were largely diminished by the end of the war. Next build, something the 1st duke of Marlborough and a little Bavarian town have in common......
