M45 Scout Ranger Pistol
The M45 Scout Ranger Pistol is a Paternian semi-automatic pistol derived from the Colt M1911 pistol. The M1911 is easily one of the best pistols of all time, a design that once finalized, remained fundamentally unchanged for over 100 years. The M1911 here has been modified by the Paternian Army Arsenal for use with special forces, specifically the Scout Rangers. The M1911 was chosen due to suitability, and availability; the subsonic .45 ACP cartridge is among the most powerful pistol cartridges suitable for use with suppressors, and the Paternian Government had large numbers of M1911 and M1911A1, alongside the .45 ACP ammunition, in storage. The pistols were refurbished with new grips, sights, actions, barrels, triggers, and basically all the internals. The barrel was extended to allow for the use of a suppressor, and a Picatinny rail added to facilitate mounting accessories such as flashlights and laser sights. Depicted at the muzzle are the three types of suppressor available, as well as a standard GI 7-round magazine, a COTS-approved 8-round magazine, and a COTS-approved 15-round magazine. These pistols are very popular among Scout Rangers.
