I had to reupload this because I removed it by accident when I wanted to edit a typo in the description. Sorry for the inconvenience
Fire Nation Airship
This is my entry for EternalDarkness' Airship Challenge, a replica of the Fire Nation Military Airship from the show 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'
History
The Fire Nation Airship is a large, rigid airship, which utilizies hot air to fly. The ship could be used for multiple purposes, such as carrying equipment and supplies, soldiers, or for aerial attacks. The lower hull features 13 platforms where fire bending soldiers can stand and shoot at enemies. These platforms could also be used to mount a cannon. The ship also features a bomb bay with an openable hatch on the floor.
These airships were shown multiple times throughout the show, most prominently in the last episodes of the final season, where the Fire Nation intended to use them to fly over the Earth Kingdom during Sozin's comet and burn down the Earth Kingdom. All but one were destroyed in this operation.
Features
The airship was faithfully recreated to be as close to looks in the show as possible. Along with the high detail exterior, the ship also features a fully detailed bridge interior, with working controls, and a Fire Nation soldier to walk around with. The bombing bay can also be opened.
Controls
On the screenshot above you can see the layout of the controls on the bridge, but here is a detailed explanation:
- Heat Control: This is a custom input and controls the ascend or descend of the ship. Pulling it down will make the ship ascend, while pushing it up will make it descend. If you let go of the lever, it stays in place
- If you want to reset Heat Control to zero, press the button below the throttle control on the panel left to the steering wheel
- Throttle control: This lever can be used to set the speed of the propellers from 0% to 100%
- Throttle direction: By default it's set in a forward position, but if you click the tip of the lever, it will switch to reverse position and reverses the Throttle (for example if you had 75% forward throttle and click on the lever, it will set it to 75% reverse throttle) (uses ActivationGroup 2 as the input)
- Steering wheel: Pretty self explanatory, grab the wheel anywhere and steer the ship (used Trim as the input)
- Elevator control: Can be used to pitch up or down the airship using the elevators. Pull back to pitch up, or push forward to pitch down (uses VTOL as the input)
- Bomb bay door: Click on the tip of this lever to open the bomb bay (uses ActivationGroup 1 as the input)
- Pitch+Roll: Walk around with the Fire Nation soldier
- CAM1: Fire Nation soldier first person view
- CAM2: Fire Nation soldier third person view
