manta
Discription:
This is a byproduct of a project i am currently working on.
I am trying to built a similar plane as a flying rc plane.
To balance it and develop the necessary controls for a properly flying rc plane is a challenging task,
but i am confident of achiving it.
I contribute this airplane to the challenge fully aware that i propaply didnt fullfill all the requirements.
I didnt spend enough time to carefully read them all and during the built it got a little bit out of hand with the partcount.
Don`t worry most of the parts are set to "calculate drag => false" to maintain a flyable airplane without freezing midgame.
If the judges deduct points or disqualify me, so be it ;-)
I built the aircraft i felt like building and it came out great.
This is the rc plane i would build if i was a couple of million dollars richer.
The actual one will be a little bit more basic due to my budget.
It comes with 3 weapon modes, 3 control modes and 2 propulsion modes.
The lights on top indicate which modes are selected to give you full control at all surcomstances.
Different combinations of the control and propulsion modes create interesting variations of flight behavior.
I obviously got inspired by the beauty of Manta rays and developed the propulsionsystem around it.
The aerodynamics shut still work in real life with some slight adjustments of course.
Check out the custom build landinggear because it took me a while to build it.
Controls:
AG 1 is for unguided rockets and guns shooting straight ahead (air to air combat)
AG 2 is for guided air to air missiles (air to air combat)
AG 3 is for pointable unguided rockets and guns (air to ground combat)
mounted on the turret on the bottom of the aircraft
it also activates the aiming optic on the front
(it slides in nicely from the side and the camera lense is iluminated)
-aimingsight on camera 1
-up and down with VTOL
-left and right with Trim
AG 4 is for controls during the transicion
its an airbrake steering system
AG 5 is for controls during vertical flight
its a steering nozzle system
AG 6 is for controls during horicontal flight
the enginepods move to get a high agilety steering mode
AG 7 is for fast and safe travel flight
AG 8 is for VTOL take off and landing with gyroassistance
extending and retracting landinggear starts conversion from vertical to horicontal flight
If you flew one of my builds before this should look familiar
How to fly it:
VTOL takeoff and landing:
activate AG 8 and 4 and/or 6
give more than 15% throttle
gain some hight
retract landinggear for conversion
voila you should be flying with up to 300 mph
landing is basicly following the steps in opposit direction
reducing throttle to 15%
extand landinggear
use AG 5 and/or 6 and/or 4 for your prefered controls
Vertical flight:
AG 8 and 5 and/or 4 activated
Landinggear extanded
pitch forward accelerates
pitch back will slow you down
roll left/right will swing you in the choosen direction
behaves allmost like a helicopter
horicontal flight:
AG 8 and 6 and/or 4 activated
Landinggear retracted
gyroassisted and with regular flight controls
fast travel flight:
only AG 7 activated
fast and stable, easy to control
combat or dogfight flight:
AG 7 and 6 and/or 4 activated
very fast and agile
i dont recommend going above 30% throttle with the additional controls activated
Notes:
when using AG 5 in vertical flight with low groundspeed
- allways pitch forward before you start rolling left or right
for the pointabel weaponsystem i recommend setting VTOL on your mousewheel
- and Trim on your left and right mousebutton
all AG`s are combineable but AG 5 and 6 combined will take some practice to get used to
get away quickly while in horicontal flight because the convoi is returning fire?
-activate AG 7 and you are catapulted out of the area
the airbrake control system is recommended during the transicion but can be used in various combinations
Enjoy

thanks for all the upvotes. Its the desired appreciation of the afford i put in the build, what was more than initialy expected.
@MAHADI yes i did. If you change the scale their halo becomes bigger too ;-)
did you use lights in the engine? it's so cool!
finaly fixed the pictures
why do the screenshots in the discription not work?
did they change the command?
![](link of picture) was the command. is it blocked or changed?
@Shaini thanks
