Training is essential to any army. However, effective training means that you must know not only our weapons, but also of others. Thus, in many modern militaries, there is usually a unit dedicated to simulating an enemy force. They are usually equipped with equipment visually modified to resemble those of an enemy force. This is known as vismod, and can apply to uniforms, equipment, and vehicles. The aim for such modifications are not to accurately mimic the particular vehicle, but to train soldiers to recognize equipment based on distinguishing characteristcs. Even if they are unable to properly identify the vehicle, they at least allow the individual to tell what side it's on, as certain factions carry distinguishing characteristics in their equipment. In this instance, it is an M65A1 Ardent main battle tank, visually modified to resemble a Lanzarrian MBT-210 Kodiak. Such modificantions are known as KV, for Krasnovian Variant. Krasnovia is a fictional faction within the fictional C&C Roleplay which OPFOR units typically portray as a stand-in for actual factions. The box on top of the gun mantlet is a pyrotechnic gunfire simulator.
