Lorie HG-10 [Wins Seaplane Challenge]

30.8k CrazyCatZe  8 months ago
Auto Credit Based on WinsWings's Seaplane Challenge 2/2024 (CLOSED)

The Auto-Level is fixed

This is the Loire HG-10. I didn't mean to take so much inspiration from the Loire 130, but since it is one of my favorite planes, it just converged to looking a lot like it. I am very pleased with how it turned out, and I think I made what I could with the strict part limit.

This plane features fully automatic front and rear gunners. To activate them, press the rectangular button on the roof (this activates the auto firing guns). You can also control the gunners when you switch to their camera. The guns will fire when the target is within 2 km of you; they will fire whenever they have a chance of hitting something.

Fictional history:

The HG-10 was built to fulfill the reconnaissance role for the French navy in 1917. However, through some unlucky and unplanned aerial dismantling of the wing mountings, the HG-10 earned the nickname "table pliante" (folding table). Although the folding feature was removed in later versions, the "table pliante" never lost this nickname. The HG-10 would later be repurposed for transport duties. Due to its fantastic range, there were considerations to employ it as a bomber. However, this experiment resulted in the loss of 10 HG-10 aircraft. It was believed that due to its slow speed, the planes were blown off course by strong winds and never arrived at the anti-air towers they were supposed to bomb. More modern theories point to the fact that the planes had to fly at low altitudes due to poor visibility. This made them an easy target for specially high trees. Finally, it can be said that the plane was reliable and had long-range capabilities, with the biggest drawback being the rather weak but low maintenance engine.

Takeoff:

Throttle 100%

Flaps down

Take off at approximately 140 km/h

Flight:

The HG-10 uses some pitch angle correction, but it is always overwritten by user input. It will also auto-level at roll angles below 10 degrees.

Landing:

Nothing special here; the plane will automatically start to brake once it is in the water. Press Ag1 to open the door on the left side.

@sharkysSPacc, It's a good idea, and there are quite a few concepts one could apply. But I'm not sure if it's worth the performance cost. also I find the interface for the ft too annoying to handle something this large. But if you're interested in experiencing that, you can spawn it as AI-controlled in a dogfight. You should still be able to use the gunners, even if the craft is AI-controlled.

Amazing! Here’s an idea: A bomber or turreted plane that when you switch to a turret, AI takes over the plane controls. Could be incredibly complex, I know, but could be really cool.
