Avro Liverpool B.1 Falklands War
Just before the Falklands War HMS Endurance delivered an old Liverpool that was barely capable of flight and stripped of almost all of it's armament to the islands for survey work. Yet as soon as the Marines stationed there heard word that an invasion was imminent they set to work preparing the ancient machine for war. They strapped an anti-tank gun to the fuselage, put some homemade rockets on the wing pylons that previously carried camera equipment and grabbed a few shells from the arms store on base to go on the wings. Flown by a soldier who had recently been transferred from the Fleet Air Arm and crewed by anyone that could be persuaded to fly in such a craft, the old banger met the invasion force at first light.
They hit a troop ship with a bomb and multiple rockets, doing great damage. After the war the aircraft was recovered and was flown by the Marines until they were withdrawn from the islands.
AG1 deploys the landing chute, AG2 drops the rocket pods and AG3 drops the bombs.
