Not long after the Great War began, Roman coastal guards came upon an abandoned ship, with many foreign artifacts on it. Most valuable among the treasures on board was no less than eighty-four SL-01s, with field-mods for training. These aircraft were painted with red and gold to identify them as Roman, and four of them were taken apart for reverse-engineering. The eighty SL-01s were modified with crossbows firing through the spinner, instead of the normal rotating cannons of other Mk2s, which was fortunate as the Romans hadn't the resources to produce bullets. Weeks later the Mayans found a similar ship on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, but didn't possess the technology to reverse-engineer any of it. for more on the story behind this aircraft read my forum post :)
