Airafang

Somebody took a P-39, modified it a bit, slapped swept wings on it, and you've got the F-68.

Another aircraft

in the long line of "Aira" planes (e.g. Airacuda, Airabonita, Airacobra, Kingcobra, Airacomet). The Airafang is a pretty basic plane, but with way above basic performance. It turns like a beast, runs like a rocket, and shoots like the average Soviet plane in War Thunder with its four 37mm cannons. To an inexperienced pilot, this thing is virtually unbeatable, but don't get cocky; experience will rarely help you either. The Airafang really only has one singular weakness: armor. This thing is basically a Zero, being a hard-hitting turnfighter with pretty much no defense. Whether you're fighting in or against it, keep these notes in mind, they will make the difference between victory and defeat.

Trivia

-Lore-wise, the F-68 wasn't supposed to exist: it was originally created when a company worker modified a mostly scrapped P-39 as hobby work, but its performance was so impressive when it took to the skies, that it was refined and put into service. Well, the Airafang type anyways. The original Airafang (dubbed "F-39/68") remains with its creator to this day.
-The F-68 "OV" (original variant) and F-68A featured two 20mm cannons as opposed to the B-variant's four 37mms. The F-68 "OV" also had two .50 cals in the nose and a total of four 7.62mms in the wings, having inherited said weapons from the P-39, but the small-caliber guns were removed in later variants to save weight.
-The F-68B Airafang might be underwhelming to some, since its 37mm cannons are its only form of weaponry, but trust me, it gets better later on (or worse if you intend to fight it).
-Yes, the Airafang will return. Like the F9R Tango, this isn't the last time you'll see 'em.
