Kaplan 8x8 was developed with standards of the modern war zone in mind. With its low weight, high maneuverability and high protection it's one of the best in it's class.

PROTECTION

Kaplan 8x8 with it's composite armor stands on level 5 in NATO stanag 4569 standard. No small fire arm can damage the armor, besides its composite armor it also has PULAT active protection system which can defend the vehicle against incoming anti tank guided missiles, rocket propelled grenades, tank shells and many more threats that can be encountered in today's operations. The Kaplan 8x8 also has smoke canister launchers which can be used for: Providing cover for dismounted infantry, blocking ATGM's guidance and other tactical uses. It also has an IED jammer device on the rear side of the APC which can prevent IED's from being activated.

DEFENSE

Kaplan 8x8 has a one manned 25mm Auto Cannon turret on top which can provide defense for the vehicle. The turret has an independent commanders sight, a gunners sight and 2 communication antennas. The cannon has 720 rounds and has a RPM of 300. The turret can rotate 360 degrees and elevate up to 17 degrees.

MOBILITY

Kaplan 8x8 is not the best vehicle for urban operations since it has a turning radius of approximately 25 meters. It was designed with light but strong materials for rural operations. It has a strong independent suspension system and it's 5250 horsepower engine. Maximum speed is 100 kmph. It can climb up to 45 degree slopes. The Kaplan 8x8 also has amphibios capabilities enabling it to pass rivers, lakes and seas. The commander and driver sits in the front section giving them a 180 degrees sight, there is also a camera on the back which can be used for extra situational awareness. The independent sight on the turret is controlled by the captian who sits right next to the driver.

OTHER FEATURES

Kaplan 8x8 has a crew of 3 (commander, gunner, driver) and can carry 9 fully equipped soldiers. The vehicle also has a MEDEVAC configuration with 2 beds inside.

Kaplan 8x8 can support the entire crew and passengers for 24 hours in the event of a CBRN attack.
