SAL Squatch
this one was to see if i could make something in the span of one week......... turns out i can... ! ! !
controls are as follows:
ag1 is freaking emty
ag2 - cycle nose wheel steering low/high modes
ag3 - autopilot airspeed / mach select (vtol)
ag4 - arm ground spoilers
ag5 - flaps (with vtol down, deactivate ag5 after desired flap position is reached)
ag6 - autopilot heading select (vtol)
ag7 - autopilot altitude & vertical speed select (vtol & trim)
ag8 - master switch (starts on)
vtol up is reverse thrust (given ag3, 6, and 7 are off)
trim controls stab trim, 6° up and 2° down
brake in the air does speedbrakes
important flying tips:
the autopilot lacks a pitch autotrim system, so with airspeed and altitude changes you will need to adjust the trim as it goes - indicated by smooth flight vs. oscillations when it is out of trim
it is possible to enter mach tuck in this airplane, avoid flying beyond mach .8
there is a roll autotrim feature, which can sometimes cause issues after upset recovery. if the autotrim is causing a rolling motion instead of damping it out, a button on the far left of the panel is included to reset the aileron position to neutral
^ a rough overview of the cockpit stuff
IMBORTANT
you can shut the engines off by cutting their fuel supply, and the process to restart them is not just to put the switch back up, you need to start the apu and crank that thang back up to rpm for fuel to ignite:
when the rpm line touches the arrow in this position (arrow spins around like hehe) you may introduce fuel and you can listen for the igniters inside the engine. the engine should start after a couple seconds and youll be epic good. MAKE SURE when you go to crank the engine the fuel switch for the engine is off, otherwise the thingdoer wont do. the selector on the top labeled "1" "2" selects which engine to crank
(note: when both engines are on the apu will automatically shut off after 10 seconds)
you can also airstart the engine(s) by getting enough airspeed (350-400 kias) and doing the same process with the fuel switches
smal teaser of the first major update to THE ITEMS ° __ °
do lmk if you find any problems with the build i will make revisions if necessary
lore:
SAL, Skip's Aviation Limited, is the evolution of Skip's later years in his tenure of designing aircraft. after exhausting every funny looking piston homebuilt airplane idea of his, and selling thousands of kits, he expanded his company with more employees and rebranded to SAL. The "Squatch", a word that Skip never remembered hearing, though thought it sounded funny; and an airplane that taught him many lessons; like where the wheels should retract for instance. nevertheless, the airplane sold just over break even, and attained a cult following of the those who owned it, those who had type ratings, and those who flew on it as passengers. Skip hoped to reach a market he expected to be full of eccentric rich kids and affluent old golfers with a breath of fresh air, though was pleasantly surprised when the airplane was bought by types he didn't expect- those pleasant enough who seemed all too familiar to the fun days of his first homebuilt kits being sold.

could Bigfoot fly this?
@BaconEggs What a smooth jet!!!! Great job with this, The cockpit has a ton of really fun features for both PC and VR lol. Also, awesome color scheme, one of my favorites on the site! Last time i posted on one of your crafts was a whole 7 years ago XD
Woah your alive
let’s go we got skip’s lore before GTA 6
You have a lot of interesting variables
yes. jet plane with straight wings!
Totally would fly in real life so smoothly!
(It wont at some point)
Argh !!! I love this plane now !!
Seriously, very nice build. The startup is enough simple to be satisfying, and not too complicated. Btw this sound ! It's really great. Thank you for this build, I really like it.
And yeah, like said earlier in the comments, the gauges arrows doesn't spin right. it's because <rotate> applies to the center of the arrow, and not its edge.
NICE C... JET
