The Sil'nyy Class Guided missile destroyer serves as the replacement to the Aki-Class destroyers. The vessels were equip with the most advanced systems and weapons in the Federation. Various electronic warfare systems, electromagnetic weapons, torpedo active protection systems, vertical launch missile tubes, quantum computing integrated Aegis systems. The vessels are primarily tasked with air defense against hostile aircraft and intercontinental ballistic missiles. Performing the task with high efficiency. The pair of railgun batteries mounted in two turrets at the bow allow the ship to engage enemy aircraft, ICBMs, and MIRVs with a variety of hypersonic projectiles. @Pilotmario we class vessels by what their task is. Along with the ability to get more support in their construction as classing them as cruisers may not receive as much support as a destroyer as they sound more expensive. The Udaloy Class destroyer has four CIWS points for AK-630 type weapons.

Thus, the North Point-class is still a cruiser. The Salem-class (modernized North Point and Honolulu-class ships) have four Phalanx guns (two on each side), three Mk 45 Mod 4 systems (three on centerline), a pair of 8-round Mk 29 Sea Sparrow box launchers, and about 40 HSLAMs in deck-mounted ABL systems.
Thus, the North Point is a cruiser on account of the fact that it is a surface combatant that can host an admiral's command staff.
