IPTN N-250-100

Hi guys, this time I made the stretched version of the Indonesian-built regional airliner, the IPTN N-250-100. This version is the second prototype (N-250-100) and painted with IPTN factory colors. The pitot probe mounted on the nose of the prototype seen here was fitted for flight test purposes only and will not be carried on production aircraft. This plane was intended to be the version that will be carried on to mass production, which unfortunately never materialized. First flew in December 1996 - a year after the first prototype PK-XNG - this airframe is now stored at IPTN (now PTDI/IAe) facility in Bandung in a derelict condition.

The N-250 was built as a commercial regional airliner, with a seating of up to 64-68 passengers. It was the first airplane to be fully developed indigenously by Indonesia. This plane was the next phase of development in Indonesia's aviation industry, with the previous success of the CN-235 jointly developed with CASA Spain.

The N-250 was powered by a pair of Allison GMA-2100C turboprop engines, and on it's maiden flight in 1995, it was at that time one of the most technologically advanced airplane in the world, equipped with fly-by-wire flight controls and one of the first airplanes to implement a full digital cockpit and flight instrument systems. It also has the fastest cruising speed in its class.

The Indonesian financial crisis and economic meltdown in 1997/1998 killed the N-250 program altogether. IPTN never got the chance to move to a final production version, and mass production for airlines was never materialized. Only two prototypes were ever built by IPTN, and with the economic crisis taking its toll on the state-owned company as well, this airframe was neglected to rot for years at IPTN facility in Bandung. The first prototype saw a much better fate with it being preserved at a museum in Jogjakarta.

GUIDE

A little trim adjustment can be done to maintain stable flight during cruising. Due to the high thrust rate of the engines, reduce the throttle to about 1-4% during approach and landing. Maintain stable speed during approach at about 170-190 mph before touchdown.
For those of you who plays on PC, I recommend to use mouse as joystick for better controls and smooth handlings. Hope you guys enjoy it!
