During the Korean War the US captured a Yak-9 which they re-painted and the. used for studies on the russian airframe. The Yak-9 itself was russias most popular airframe before the jet age, mainly produced during world war 2. This specific airframe was the Yak-9P that the North Korean air force was using at the time.
