Ok, first off the Corsair was not designed in 1944 it was designed in 1940. It then was put into service in ‘42, AS A NAVAL FIGHTER. The British did not turn it into a carrier based fighter, but they modified the A1 models in ’43 that were given to the USMC because they were incapable of landing on carriers due to the weak landing gear. They were never banned, the navy only stoped using them on their carriers until the landing gear were fixed and able to land on the US carriers. And also it was not the worlds first fighter bomber

I know planes of fame is in chino it was flown by Ron Hackworth and Dave Vopat. Both really awesome guys but Dave was the pilot when it went down
