@Phim While beautiful I ran into a few issues flying her. Her center of gravity and lift are so close together that she can quickly pitch upward with the slightest lift of the elevators and bleed off a bunch of speed. (At least with keyboard controls.) I am not sure why but she tends to roll to port as well though I've noticed a similar problem in some of my builds that never had an issue before too. A bug perhaps? Dunno. Anyway I filled up the forward fuselage section with fuel which brought the center of balance away from the center of lift but still behind the main landing gear, gave her wider "paddle blades" and a broader prop diameter and that fixed the instability and allowed her to use more of that 2,000 HP you put up front. Better yet she still maintains that amazing maneuverability and remarkably slow stall speed you built into her. She handles exactly how I would expect a next gen successor to the Zero to fly. :D
@Phim Nice proportions on this Bf-109, I like how you even got the "K" variant's tall tail in there! For future reference you can nudge a gun into the center of a propeller spinner on SPs! :D
@General360 Ah-hah, but some WW2 types didn't store fuel in the wings~ XD I considered taking advantage of the leniency but I'll stick with adding fuel the old fashioned way. (Wait, considering that fuselage blocks came out after fuel cells, wouldn't that be the new way?? lol) I looked back at the rules and you basically covered just modding engines, period specific weaponry, etc. - nothing about fuel~
@AwesomeDesign717 Now for the real challenge; Design a Soviet fighter or some sort of attack aircraft capable of taking off and landing within 100 feet and will not stray from a wheelbase width of approximately 10 feet; 18 or so if landing within 50 feet. XD
@General360 Really?? Hmm... Heh! I have some very short range jet fighters I've built that with unlimited fuel would be pretty nasty. Are you sure you wanna open that can of worms? ;-)
@AnarchistAerospaceIndustries lol You would make both of my children either very annoyed or make them outright cry. XD My daughter by creating SAO char's to be destroyed and you would make my son annoyed by painting the tanks in the colors of Girls und Panzer. XD
@Samwise Very nice, though they'd be gobbled up by Oni's jet fighter and my VL Salamointi if the Soviets decide to use them on the Finnish portion of the Eastern front. ^_^
@Oni789 You've underrated this girl, you know? In a shallow banking climb I was able to reach 693 mph at 17,000-18,000 ft. Like my entry for Finland she loves to climb which is why its hard to get an accurate maximum speed. She accelerates from 500 to 550 mph, after a maneuver, in a mere few seconds. She's not terribly maneuverable but not bad either for a turbojet of her generation. Energy fighter tactics would suit this type very well and with all that fuel she has some serious legs to allow for a fair amount of loiter time. I did notice a couple of design faults that could easily be rectified though. She needs a taller vertical stab as at the speeds she reaches her posterior end tends to wobble side to side. Adding a little weight to the nose cone is all that would be necessary to omit the detaching tail wheel. The only other thing I could say is that the guns are too far out in the wings, centralized firepower is best when engaging an enemy. You don't have to worry about hitting propeller blades from a wing gun on a jet so you can snuggle them up pretty close to the fuselage without trouble if you don't know how to nudge them into the nose. Still, its a nice aircraft that takes advantage of its size to carry lots of fuel and has a high enough speed on the average to outrun most anything the allies had until the Gloster Meteor joined the fight. I haven't checked to see what our other axis members have developed let alone our adversaries save for a couple of Soviet bombers that were no match for the contra-rotating prop fighter I put together for the RP. Do you plan to submit more entries for the RP? If so I'm looking forward to what you are able to create!! ^_^
@MasterManufacturing There is also a control tower and emergency vehicle/repair depot garage in the target series. The Control tower has the fewest parts and so should cause less lag than this one. My son was having a GREAT time last night with his tanks and airplanes he's DL'd and attacking these targets. lol I'd like to add a hangar, dummy airplanes, anti-aircraft gun positions, pillboxes, radar installations and armored vehicles to that list in the future. I have some dummy vehicles as well but still need to reduce their part counts from the originals before posting them. XD
@TheOwlAce I just tried it out using the naval guns of the Iowa-Class as a basis ... it didn't work. It can emulate low caliber cannons with a high rate of fire but for single fire guns, I did find that someone altered a wing gun to fire only one round at a time. The caliber it was set at was immense though unless since its a heavily altered part it is some meaningless coding - well - meaningless to someone who only knows a little XML coding.
@TheOwlAce On the other hand, guns are moddable to different calibers. I've been meaning to experiment in making a large scale cannon using one to see if it actually looks like a BIG bullet and see if it will inflict the damage equivalent of the mass of the projectile moving at that muzzle velocity.
@TheOwlAce Ah, yeah, news on that front. The Ship update I heard rumors about, according to the Devs, is actually going to be a Mod you can ADD to your' game - sorta like the smoke dispenser mod. Meaning that even if you develop stuff using that mod nobody but those with that mod will be able to DL and use it. >.< It hasn't been released yet and nobody's really sure if/when it will be. -sigh-
@TheOwlAce lol I made an American T29(?) tank fly a while back at my son's behest though it didn't have the nifty detatching features. I THINK it was self powered though, as back then, we didn't have auto engines available.lol Needless to say my son LOVED it. XD Lately I've been thinking of how to make a 5-7 shot rotary auto-loader with the downscaled Boom-25s for use in a heavy tank.
@TheOwlAce I have to see what my current enemies are developing firstly. I may make a hybrid design between the Bf-133 and "The Nose." For now I only have Finland really pitted against the Soviets and largely taking a hands off approach towards the other allies. So far I've seen an attack plane and a bomber which would be cannon fodder for the Salamointi, neither of which had terribly long ranges. NOW - if you look at history Finland had a history of sudden surprise attacks in an isolated area of a poorly defended border, strike forward bases and steal everything that wasn't bolted down. Heck, it wasn't until '44 that they received any armor from Germany - it was entirely composed of Vickers tanks and loads of captured Soviet armor. The same is true of aircraft. They acquired enough engines from LaGG fighters, which were further developed versions of the Hispano-Suiza engines their Morane-Saulnier MS.406s used, to seriously consider a large scale conversion of all of their Moranes. In the end only one was converted though but even that prototype saw success in combat. lol
@TheOwlAce I need a USB splitter port so I can have my KB, mouse and joystick hooked up to this laptop. I miss MY computer but she has a fried mother board at the very least.
@TheOwlAce Perhaps a STOL transport could be possible via use of VTOL instead of throttle to activate the engines so you can reverse thrust on landing? I've not tried it but its a theory. I know the Messerschmitt Me-323 Gigant and its glider variant, the Me-321 were both capable of carrying light tanks..
@TheOwlAce It was exported to several countries. South Africa converted airliners they had purchased pre-war into patrol-bombers, Sweden was an importer and one of their museums has the LAST one of these aircraft left in existence of any variety - a Ju-86K which looks more or less like this one. The Hungarians were big time customers of the type. (I don't remember the exact model but I know it had Radials like the E and K variant.) The Germans used them quite late into the war for training, specialized high altitude versions (The Ju-86P was one of two such variants.) were used for high altitude reconnaissance bombing at heights fighters couldn't reach until I think it was the Spitfire Mk.VII or VIII was produced specifically to intercept them. They stopped using them over Britain and later North Africa but they were still immune to attack on the Eastern Front. Meanwhile several airlines or impressed airline versions were used all over the place.
@AwesomeDesign717 Aah that's why the refit, I gotcha. Have you checked out that Finnish fighter I put together? Not very color intensive as I wanted to save weight to improve performance - but I did what I could. ^_^
@TheOwlAce She is a good looking bird and carries an impressive bombload. However I run into problems with the bombs. On CG2, somehow, 2 bombs get hung up but come loose after you maneuver. Invariably, whether in a dive, climb or in level flight though CG3 takes out engines which leads to a cascade of explosion that ends with the cockpit flying forward at mach speeds from the detonation of the remaining bombs ... how do you manage? Might just be because I use KB controls vs Joystick controls though.
@TheOwlAce I liked this one, I've always been fond of gulled winged and parasol winged aircraft. I think I forgot to upvote it after the DL though! >.<
@TheOwlAce Reminds me of a similar Soviet Project. I think you'd be better off developing a glider or STOL transport that could effect landing on rough or short strips. Those engines can't be so cheap as to be disposable.
@General360 Actually I hadn't seen your' Bismarck until you mentioned it. The part count and dimensions of that unfinished commerce raider/patrol vessel exceed those of that ship - but yours looks much more realistic and detailed. XD
@TheOwlAce Nope, nowhere near the capabilities of the fighters from our RP - this thing couldn't even catch up to my bombers intended for your' RP. lol
@TheOwlAce Ack! Why did you upvote this fugly old thing?! lol I should redo it sometime. Its one of my favorite early war bombers and with that piston assembly I might even be able to make the ventral gondola work. XD Also I think I could do a better job on the suspended Ju-87-like ailerons and flaps now.
@General360 Its based on one I created before but it had a tremendous amount of parts including additional canopy parts that would not drag to the subassembly tab when they added that. I have two more from the originals to redo then I intend to add hangars and finally a full assembled version.
@TheOwlAce I had a hard time finding it too which is why I was a non-modder for so long. Even then I am not creating all new parts, which you can do with other tools, but just reshaping or altering stats on existing parts. For example I can now look at some of my designs that use so-called modded engines and see exactly how much of a boost they received.
@TheOwlAce You're on Windows, right? Search for a folder called AppData, which should be under your' username's folder, go to LocalLow from there, select Jundroo, then SimplePlanes and finally AircraftDesigns. Right click on the design of your' preference and use Notepad to open it. You can see how the coding is laid out from there. I suggest creating an experiment file and toying around first with adjusting the shape of a simple block. Most of it is self explanatory it just takes time to get used to what goes where. I never mod a part that's attached to a design though I pull out a part, save the file, then go to the XML file and toy around with the settings.
Off the record, assuming she's using the 12.7 mm Berezin UB Heavy Machine-Guns, the muzzle velocity on these are 20 mps too slow and the weight of the bullet is severely underweight. (Meaning they should be faster and pack more of a punch.) Rate of fire is also underrated and should be about 13 rounds per second for a burst of 52 rounds. Tracer color should also be white. ;)
@AwesomeDesign717 Miniguns were banned from General360's RP if memory serves correctly. The Germans were working on a rotary auto-cannon at the end of the war, but with a single barrel. (The Americans, British and French copied it post-war and it remained in service for years. The F-5s remaining in service around the world still use it.)
@AwesomeDesign717 After numerous observations of the type in service, once leveled out at 20-30 thousand feet we have found a few holes in the defenses of the type. 3 o'clock high, 3 o'clock low, 9 o'clock high, 9 o'clock low and 12 o'clock on a slightly elevated level or from slightly below. You could cover all four areas but it would require breaking your' formations and continued evasive action - thus preventing the aircraft from reaching her targets. She tends to fly at just a bit over 500 mph, but sudden pitches can decrease this to the low 400 mph range in the blink of an eye, as where the Salamointi can exceed those speeds at that altitude. :D Turrets are also hand cranked thus wolf pack style attacks from multiple directions can easily overwhelm her gun crews. Range is also surprisingly short which means she'd have trouble hitting targets deep in Finland unless stationed at forward air fields. Feel free, in fact, we welome you to station them close to our borders - our Ilmailuvoimien Lentokonetehdas has become remarkably adept at repairing and refitting Soviet types and, in our colors, using them against you.
Awesome! How did you pull off that more authentic looking set of landing gear?! How about the weight of the assembly, how does it compare to the rudimentary wing landing gear?
@WalrusAircraft What irony! My 12 y/o son is a fan of some folks on Youtube that play this game and thus my interest grew. lol We also play together on here but he is more content to DL new designs while I build stuff. lol I'm very sorry to hear about your' cousin and indeed it did. To this day, call me a conspiracy theorist if you will, I do not think we know the full story about what really happened that day - thus if someone asks me what happened all I can really say is that an organized group of individuals flew planes into buildings as well as one which fell short of its target with a high civilian death toll.
Great job!! :D I looked this one up after you turned down the Piaggio P.108 project and thought this would be an equally neat project! Turned out really good!! :D
@General360 Okay, thanks - that means this truck's colors will not stand out like a sore thumb in supplying the Eastern Front with critical reinforcements and supplies. lol
@General360 Thanks! BTW, I should have asked before submitting but what is the present theatre of operations? Greenland or is there still fighting on the Eastern front of Europe?
@Phim While beautiful I ran into a few issues flying her. @Phim With how good looking your' builds were I figured you already were able to. You're a skilled builder! ^_^
@Phim I'm not sure, I'd say put up a forum post to ask how? I've only played on windows..
@Phim Nice proportions on this Bf-109, I like how you even got the "K" variant's tall tail in there! For future reference you can nudge a gun into the center of a propeller spinner on SPs! :D

@IStoleYourMeme Great looking replica of the Fargo! Also a perfect fit for the RP. ^_^
@AwesomeDesign717 Now for the real challenge; Design a Soviet fighter or some sort of attack aircraft capable of taking off and landing within 100 feet and will not stray from a wheelbase width of approximately 10 feet; 18 or so if landing within 50 feet. XD

@TheOwlAce First you'd have to join General360's RP and pick a country to represent. Germany is available - but - it's Nazi Germany.
@TheOwlAce lol I made an American T29(?) tank fly a while back at my son's behest though it didn't have the nifty detatching features. @Pilotmario Yay! I made something useful! :D
@TheOwlAce I may yet use lessons learned from the older RP for a superior fighter.
@TheOwlAce I need a USB splitter port so I can have my KB, mouse and joystick hooked up to this laptop. I miss MY computer but she has a fried mother board at the very least.
@TheOwlAce That's true, but she has character. XD
@AwesomeDesign717 I've been bad about checking on my axis partners let alone all of my Soviet adversaries.
