@JolyLoly if I’m not mistaken I believe those are Wikipedia stats. When you look at more academic sources like the book “Aircraft Performance: an Engineering Approach”, by Mohammad Sadraey, it shows that the top speed of TU-114 is 541kts. What Wikipedia shows is 870km/h which happens to be 541mph. My guess is they mistook knots for miles per hour so that’s where the confusion comes from.

This really does feel like a land battleship

  • KV-1 4.5 years ago

Very good looking tank! Details are excellent and it functions well. One thing though is that it goes a little too fast but that’s just a small detail. Overall I love it!

  • Columbiair F/A-26 Appaloosa (RAF) 4.5 years ago

This is a pretty cool looking fighter! It looks sort of like a mix between an F-35 and a Jaguar but with canards. Turning with this plane is quite poor so maybe some more wing area would help since wing load is really high. Some more area to the elevator and canard would help as well. Other than this I really like it!

  • Multi-Purpose Burst Missile 4.5 years ago

Nice! The purpose of this missile reminds me of at was done by AIM-54 Phoenix in Iran Iraq war where on more than one occasion between 2-4 planes were shot down by one missile

@jelybaca it seems to be doing quite well for how long it’s been up so I hope this continues. It definitely deserves attention!

  • Saunders Roe SR.45 Princess BOAC British Overseas Airways Corporation 4.5 years ago

This is absolutely beautiful! The princess was an incredible aircraft. In one pub I went to a few times that’s in a seaside town in the south of England had a gigantic model of one of these hanging from their ceiling. It was at least 1:32 scale. Lovely to see such a good replica of this plane on SP!

  • Flying Beast 4.5 years ago

@OscarLima no problem! SP is pretty good for physics but a lot of times it gets stuff wrong (understandably) so real physics and SP stuff don’t always match hahaha.

  • Wierdo 1 4.5 years ago

Well the name doesn’t lie. At least it flies though!

  • omg 69 4.5 years ago

This plane is very fun to fly actually. Good job on it!

  • Flying Beast 4.5 years ago

@OscarLima that one is also significantly lighter than this plane. Where you should put the CoM varies for each aircraft and for that one it’s the perfect spot since it can still turn smoothly without any bumps or stalls. Of course it also depends on what kind of plane you’re making and how you want it to fly. If you’re interested in fly by wire though definitely take a look at the funky trees builds since they actually work and you can easily fly unstable aircraft. It’s very cool!

  • Flying Beast 4.5 years ago

@OscarLima it still needs to be a bit more in front of the CoL. It will actually be more manoeuvrable and turn smoother (resulting in shorter time to complete one turn). For a plane to fly and have high agility while unstable, it needs a fly by wire system but this doesn’t have it. It is possible to make this in SP with funky trees but you need to input different command lines to rotators and hinges which is fairly complex. Of course you can build your planes however you want but this is something that definitely would improve flight performance

  • A2D-1 SkyShark 4.5 years ago

@WarHawk95 the sources I have read and watched all say the Tu-114 is still the fastest turboprop in the world but I mean they could be wrong. The Tu-114 is just a civilian TU-95 so they have similar speeds only with slight differences

  • Flying Beast 4.5 years ago

@OscarLima also a small tip to help with making it fly better is to put the CoM further from the CoL. I would also recommend building with fuselage blocks instead of these ones. The fuselage parts are easier to shape and can hold extra fuel and weight. If you remove the fuel from the wing parts towards the back of this plane, it will fly much better :)

  • FA-37 4.5 years ago

@QinQianWen everyone can build in their own way so fair enough :)

  • German Mitsubishi G4M + V-1 Rocket 4.5 years ago

Excellent! This is extremely cool. The plane looks great and the idea is good too

  • FA-37 4.5 years ago

This looks very cool! It accelerates too fast but other than that it’s great and fun to fly

  • Parrott Rifle battery (old) 4.5 years ago

I would recommend setting the cannons in the middle and on the right to have 0.1 second firing delay while leaving the one on the left longer. That way, they can fire salvos

  • A2D-1 SkyShark 4.5 years ago

@WSindustries I just googled and multiple sources (including mustard’s videos) cite the Tu-114 as the fastest turboprop in the world. I could be wrong but that’s what I’ve always heard and also what the sources say

  • Lockheed F-104 Starfighter 4.5 years ago

This is very well made! It looks great and performance is quite good. I won’t even mention the acceleration since others have already but here are two other things that could be helpful. One is that the plane is not manoeuvrable enough. The F-104 may not have the agility of other fighters but it was still designed for air to air combat and had a tighter turn radius at 400mph than this build. Second thing is that you might want to enable aircraft collisions on the cannon. To stop it from blowing up the plane when firing, put it right at the end of a fuselage part shaped as a gun. You also might want to double the gun velocity as muzzle exit velocity on an M61 is closer to 1000m/s. Other than this I really love the build and the cockpit is excellent too! Superb job and I’m looking forward to more of your builds :)

  • Flying Beast 4.5 years ago

Just to let you know, this sort of title isn’t really appropriate for SP (as per the rules). I’d recommend you change the name and check out the rules page before a mod sees this and takes it down

  • Please help! 4.5 years ago

This is actually very easy to fix. Add more weight to the front, remove weight from the back and add some wing area towards the rear of the plane, and then change the prop pitch to automatic. Also for flaps, it’s hard to make
Them work in this way. It would be best to replace the wing part with a similar looking fuselage block. You can then add scaled down wing parts which have an added flap capability. If you need one of those wing parts with flaps controlled by VTOL (that actually work), is be happy to post one for you :)
