  • how to add a sub assembly to game simpleplanes pc?.PLEASE ANSWER 8.9 years ago

    • Select the parts that you want to make in to a subassembly

    • Make sure they aren't connected to a cockpit

    • Click the little arrow button that opens the menu for rotating parts

    • Click the button with the subassemblies icon (the triangle above two squares)

  • how to download planes 8.7 years ago

Assuming you're on PC: you don't need to put them in a folder, just click the file and it should open the plane in the game. You can also download directly through the Steam browser if you're using Steam, or by copying the URL and then pressing ctrl+L in the builder if you're on Windows.

Normally people do it with a hidden engine set to an action group. They often use an engine that is xml edited for more power, to get a big speed boost. VTOL engines are especially effective for this, and much easier to hide.

@Halfstrike it moved to the top left in the recent update, it only appears when you're dragging something that you can make in to a subassembly

Lots of little fuselage pieces, usually. It usually requires xml editing, but the latest update might make it a bit easier with the smaller fuselage piece limits. Being able to nudge is also really helpful. Nudge still works on mobile if you have a bluetooth keyboard or some other way of assigning an input to it. I believe some people even use headphones volume buttons.

@VTOLCO you did, but it may have been an accident or something. I know I've done it accidentally before now, it's no big deal.

As for the response to this plane: this community has suffered quite a lot from people stealing the work of others, unfortunately. As such, it makes people pretty quick to condemn what they see as copying. Don't take it personally, people just get jumpy about things

@Hazard222 an alternate account. Normally this is fine, and I actually have a second account that I use to test things occasionally, but there are circumstances where it isn't. Using an alternate account to upvote your own planes, for example, will get you banned. Using one to get around your main account being banned is also very definitely against the rules, so I suggest you stay off of the website for the duration of the ban. Using alts to break the rules can result in an IP ban, which prevents any account coming from your IP (an online address for your specific internet connection) from accessing the site.

  • [PINNED] Markdown Formatting 8.7 years ago

@Hazard222 I didn't, but one of the other mods apparently has. Identifying this account as an alt is not a great idea.

@CarlosDanger13 hold down the power and volume down buttons together for one second. Once you've taken the screenshot, upload it to somewhere like imgur, and then use this format:

    ![](Image URL)

It's important to remember that you need to use the URL of the specific image, not just the page of the image.

    This will work: http://i.imgur.com/gypKUB3.png

    This won't: http://i.imgur.com/gypKUB3

    Similarly, for google image search:

    This won't work: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=morgan+aero+8&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=705&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj92YWXpoPLAhWGaRQKHV2vA2EQ_AUIBigB#imgrc=BxnLZPxkUfNg6M%3A

But if I click view image, I get the link that will: http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/crop/201503/2015-morgan-aero-8-21_1600x0w.jpg

@CarlosDanger13 this is the forum post that brought inline images to the SimplePlanes community. Welcome to a very small piece of SP history, I guess haha. Anyway, what device do you have? Once I know that, I can tell you how to take screenshots

  • [PINNED] Markdown Formatting 8.8 years ago

@bobthetitan needs to be an image URL, that was just a google images one. If you click view images, you get http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/2/22/TIEdefender_negvv.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20110701073721, which is the one you need.

    +2
  • [PINNED] Markdown Formatting 8.8 years ago

@Jetspeed1001 when you're looking for the right link, make sure it ends in an image extension, like .jpg or .png or something. Make sure that when you copy the link, the image is literally the only thing one the screen. If you're on Chrome, you can right click and hit "open image in a new tab" to get this. Other browsers may be similar

    +2
  • [PINNED] Markdown Formatting 8.8 years ago

@Jetspeed1001 it needs to be a link to the actual image, rather than just a search page containing it. Those ones should have been http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-XkviAtJ1s6Q/T3YFb2RUhDI/AAAAAAAAAVQ/EHomLZlFMKo/s1600/small+cat.jpg

@Jetspeed1001 I think you actually did it right with the first attempt, you just picked a bad link. I tried following it and got a 404 error. But, just as another example, let's do your gravatar:

@Noman0rumeral it needs to be a direct image link for that, so either hit "view image" from google, right click and hit "copy image URL", or something similar. The link you want is https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/2e/bc/9b/2ebc9b47567dbbc2b4e781b19dd604a9.gif
