  • Hypersonic SSTO V1 5.6 years ago

SR2 was advertised as a simple new release. In beta testing I discovered SR2 was neither mobile friendly or desktop OSX compliant. @AndrewGarrison @SimpleEric

  • Hypersonic SSTO V1 5.6 years ago

@SimpleEric Yeah, this was a new build this week on SimplePlanes to re-test SP physics. Same results, on a build more easily controlled. I doubt that Jundroo developers were allowed to code what it takes for real SSTO to exist within SP physics boundaries. These developers seem to adhere to real-world physics. I will find out, when I sign up for SR2.

  • SST CHALLANGE!!!! 5.6 years ago

Thank you @SimpleEric Note - this was a collaborative build shared with other Users who are no longer on SP. I just added the engines and fixed the cockpit prior to posting. For your reference file. Via iOS.

IMHO, stealth is subjective to the guy being surveilled. Commercial and military radars of that time could track the SR-71. When a mission was performed over Israel, their F-4 Phantom interceptors could not even come close to a missile launch. I've said enough about the cold war, tonight. @SledDriver

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

@SledDriver "Blueprints" forget it for Have Blue. There are a few images in the public domain I've come across for the Nighthawk prototype. You realize the prototype empty weight was 8,851 lbs? It was a small unarmed prototype, the first of it's kind.

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

Kelly rold the AFB flight tower to be alert, be on time. They were on time at dawn to witness zero radar alarms and a strange new plane fly past the runway. No other stealth contenders were present that day.

Win 10 PC only. Requires all new builds, due to the Jundroo interpretation of "hi-physics" that performs my builds nicely on OSX 10.14, but the Jundroo SP game shreds them in-flight on my Alienware platform. Also desire to establish an SR2 account, Windows only allowed, and mashing SR2 beta testing with my Stingray account did not work out so well, the first time. @SledDriver

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

For about 2 years my office, and that of teammates were in a hanger, and when an unusual USAF Sigint aircraft pulled into the hanger, and I did not ask why. Boring stuff. Interesting stuff cannot be discussed. Yet, some interesting events took place when I was not a Lockheed CALAC employee. Check out the design and testing of HB1002 Have Blue online, in public domain. Also checkout the Lockheed EP-3 Hainan incident circa 2001. Facts not included on Wiki are that the J-8 disintegrated upon hitting the EP-3 radome. I could probably build an SP HB1002, now but the challenge is for you to build one that’s better. @SledDriver

  • Lockheed YF-12 5.6 years ago

Forgot to upvote this fine build! Works well on mobiles and Mac and PC. A tribute to Kelly Johnson.

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

Clarence “Kelly” Johnson passed away shortly after my one encounter. Ben Rich ran APD Skunk Works after that time. I prefer Kelly Johnson’s directive “ Be Quick, Be Quiet, and be On Time”.

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

Yes, I helped him push his Porche onto a parking lot, when his engine died, in 1989. Other than a thank you, to me, he proceeded to grill the YF-22 Progam Manager about program status, indoors, in a very private meeting I wished I could have listened to. The PM (Program Manager) did provide me a debrief, however. Kelly had white hair at that time. @SledDriver

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

@SledDriver Re: SR-71, in 1990 as a Lockheed employee I watched one fly 2 low passes down the Burbank Airport runway at about 300 feet distance from me and approximately 200 foot altitude. Pilot had to hit afterburners to avoid crashing: the flames scorched the asphalt. Upon retiring from Lockheed about a year later, the Skunk Works debriefing permitted me to place F-117 engineering work on my resume, but did not permit me to say I developed the avionics for the YF-22A. Restrictive rules.

RE: NIPRnet and SIPRnet, as a Sr. Project Engineer for The Aerospace Corporation, El Segundo, such daily tools were required for multi-agency file transactions and for launch base access to Vandenberg and Cape Canaveral. GPS IIR and IIF vehicles are public knowledge. Other space vehicles and all customers worked with are not open to discussion, even upon my recent retirement from that corporation.

@SledDriver Search engines: never coded anything for them like you did. Just a mere end-user of search technology. Setting my public IP address to Germany or Switzerland and web shopping for shoes, I receive Ads in German for a particular browser session. Or, Switzerland Ads are in English. Fun to miss-direct the search engines.

@SledDriver Re: privacy, I'm merely a NIPRnet and SIPRnet user, who launched dozens of those satellites for special customers: that could see your backyard only IF tasked to do so. At home on the commercial InterWeb, I experiment with TOR, not finding it too useful at the moment. It may come in handy when Apple/Microsoft/Google/Amazon engines encroach too close for comfort.

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

@SledDriver Thanks for the XPPlorer product advice, I'll look into it. For XML file attribute editing, I prefer native applications which do not require Javascript. This screen resolution is fine for me - the 4K is a neat feature, like 3D TV. This darn PC thing comes with VR support, so I guess I could walk outdoors bumping into things with a VR headset.

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

@SledDriver Yeah, I admit it, the laptop requirement narrowed the search for a Win 10 device. A 17 inch display MacBook Pro remains in the future rumor mils, and previous Mac laptops I had were technical disapoinments.

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

@SledDriver Yes, the Win 10 is brand new to me, a former UNIX system admin. Yes, Explorer/Edge stuff must be circumvented to really use a new Win 10 device, IMHO. I use Firefox, TOR, and a VPN on the new device. Device has the i9 CPU Core and an overclocked Nvidia GTx 1080, with a screen rate of 1440. On a laptop. All Jundroo XML files are visible for my builds. I presume your code editor is command line. Only Notepad is built-in. the file manager is clunky. Where can I find a replacement File Editor?

  • Procedural Rocket Engines in SR2 5.6 years ago

Appreciate the Update Notice @AndrewGarrison ! Will the SR2 Release finally include Keplar's model of planetary motion, so that a Potential Purchasher like myself can launch from the Moon to Uranus? [FYI, my old SimpleRockets on Apple and Android tablets enable me to to that.]

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

@SledDriver I hear you. That may be necessary in a few days. "HW" is all that PC sellers boost as selling points. The sales BS given by Frye's tech folks is that Win 10 is the same on their products. Wrong. I have defeated the Win 10 Dell security and installed my own firewall/VPN software. The Edge Browser is clunky and slow. The user and system files are the main concern. A simpler laptop, required for the smaller footprint, is another option.

  • AS-AC-10 5.6 years ago

Tested via an old Mac, it's great to "look down" upon the USS Beast. Alas, the Jundroo Beast will not alter course. Yet, still fun! Yuge!

Arrgh! Similar here. My Dell has an "Alienware" umbrella over all User and System files.

∞Time will tell...I've already had do disable Dell's Security Guard just to install Firefox, just to download everyone's SimplePlane's website builds.
There is no pathname for &userprofiles% nor for \AppData\ on my Dell

∞ I may leave the xml attributes modding to others who have older PC, Android, or OSX OS systems. Hah!

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

iOS no way. Also, Google Pixel android accesses video and photo files, but no system file access allowed. My custom subassemblies are on iOS.

From Andrew Garrison, at one time OSX allowed system file access to Jundroo files, which vanished when updates from Steam placed all Jundroo OSX files inside a locked Unity folder. Per Andrew (although the Mac pathnames were nonexistent):

    Mac:
    ~/Library/Application Support/com.jundroo.SimplePlanes/AircraftDesigns
    ~/Library/Application Support/Jundroo/SimplePlanes/AircraftDesigns
    ~/Library/Containers/com.jundroo.SimplePlanesOSX/Data/Library/Application Support/com.jundroo.SimplePlanesOSX

    PC:
    %userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Jundroo\SimplePlanes\AircraftDesigns

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

Yes, I'll certainly do SR2. Thanks!

∞ Meantime, I'll transfer files from an old iOS tablet and old Android tablet to a new Alienware 17 R5 laptop. All items you see in my Posted profile have multiple full test bodys in subassemblies on iOS or Android tablets.
∞ It's a slow process, via SP webpage unlisted posts. Could not transfer "the entire kitchen sink" between devices, unlike simply touching a new iPad to an old iPad where all tablet content got transferred simply by touching the new tablet to the old tablet.
∞ I am starting to remove several Posted builds since the models that once performed okay on an old iPad get shredded under common maneuvers on my faster hi-physics PC.
    @SledDriver

  • Simple AG Gunship Aircraft 5.6 years ago

Yeah...Just starting, yesterday. Example, all items you see in my POSTED profile have more than 1 full bodys in subassemblies on iOS and Android. This was one of hundreds of unposted builds. I am removing several Posted builds since the models once performed okay on an old iPad but get shredded under common maneuvers on my faster hi-physics PC. @Bearclaw189

  • Simple AG Gunship Aircraft 5.6 years ago

Thanks @Bearclaw189 - I'm doing file transfers from old platforms for my newer platforms.

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

@SledDriver So is SR2 worth getting and testing on my new PC platform?

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

Didn't test your torpedoes. I'll spend less and less time on Jundroo products in the future - their OSX and iOS GUIs sre terrible fo "mouse+keyboard" building and testing. Was really looking forward to SimpleRockets Upgrades. Tested Jundroo new software there on SR2: it's a purely PC+2 button Mouse sandbox and test flight game. I do almost zero gaming at the moment. Other things to do in life. @SledDriver

  • Ballistic Missile Submarine II 5.6 years ago

Neat dive+power method. Fun periscope! FYI, stock guns survive water dunks, and torpedoes fired underwater will sink even the Beast (I’ve posted diesel surface subs which do that). I like this!

    Nice appearance! @Vidal99977

  • Steam Lunar Sale 5.8 years ago

I may Purchase/download the Steam package on my Mac desktop. Unsure, at the moment. Since Simplerockets2 was clearly not built with the minority Macintosh OSX GUI users, testing it, again, it would just be an additional experiment. I might be impressed by the new planetary physics.I might not be impresssed. SimplePlanes runs okay on Steam for desktop systems. This is fyi, since you have bigger questions to contemplate regarding any kind of mobile app for SimpleRockets2. Good luck with future releases!

  • MiG-17 SIMPLE FIGHTER CHALLENGE 5.8 years ago

    Pretty.

  • Steath Fighter D-1 5.8 years ago

Thank you. The front/rear pitch control is interesting to watch. This completely new build will shoot down both of my other two entries to this challenge at far and medium ranges. The Jundroo "close" range ends up with all aircraft looping around until one of them runs out of fuel. Caveat: a slow target builds will just hang in there until you shoot it down. You have a new delta body to play with. The cockpit does not affect performance. Tested with cockpit on top, same performance. So for cosmetic appearances I mounted a scaled cockpit (your's now) behind the aircraft build's nose. @hopotumon

In reply, I just posted you an all-stock build entry using parts available on the current standard menu. Easily completes Oceanview. Easily engages other builds in AI Dogfight mode. Weapons are per Armement Rules. Total of only 47 parts. (Probably can be used on several other Jundroo closed circuit courses, for future reference.) @hopotumon

  • Simple Fighter Challenge (Closed) 5.8 years ago

No despair. I’ll post you a 100% stock jet entry that will complete all 24 rings, always, on Oceanview. I’ll add menu weapons, and your cockpit. You let me know, eventually, if it’s a match for others stock dogfighters. @hopotumon

  • Simple Fighter Challenge (Closed) 5.8 years ago

IK. All of my test builds will never be posted, yet I have tested stock builds that would complete Oceanview 100% given a course time of 2-3 minutes and yes it would be agile. But it probably would be a POS if used as an AI dogfighter. @hopotumon

  • Simple Fighter Challenge (Closed) 5.8 years ago

Ah, that’s a new read the fine print detail that ought to be added to to Guidlines. I can build a propeller or jet platform that’s an optimized AI Dogfighter, but can complete only 4-6 rings via Oceanview Race mode. Maybe I’ll submit a second entry, maybe not. The V1.0 SP Olde Propeller thing I submitted will complete all rings in the Oceanview Race course 95% of time if the AI gods allow so. @hopotumon

  • Simple Fighter Challenge (Closed) 5.8 years ago

You are correct re advised modded fuel tanks if your entry is jet powered. I'm still working on a stock-build jet that is competitive, so far no luck. The stock V1.0 Cessna-150 w weapons I entered completes Oceanview in under 60 seconds and has very adaquate fuel for those hight-pitch aerial engagments, it's not a jet but it's very fast. @IssaIwan

Are you using AI Mode for dogfights and for the Oceanview race? If not, that could explain performance issues. Hint: the best dogfighters are balanced closely to a vtol build- COM and COL are usually moved closer for Jundroo AI dogfighting. @IssaIwan

Cockpit view is fun. Nice build!

  • Simple Fighter Challenge (Closed) 5.8 years ago

OK. The body+olde propeller is from 3 years ago from an iOS platform I no longer own; I could not have modded it if I tried on iOS. Weapons are from the pull-down main menu only. I avoided adding faster versions of AA-missiles to this build and avoided integrating scaled parts/jets/etc onto this build. Still, the end result C-150 pokes it's nose at fancier jet designs when Dogfight Mode is engaged. This was all for fun! @ColonelStriker

  • Question 5.8 years ago

An $800 iPad Pro 2018 will handle 1,000 parts easily. Handles even complex modded builds well, up to about 1,000 parts. An $800 Google Pixel tablet, about the same, with a bit more lag.
