@Quintasoarus yes. I know how this works. (i'm guessing you didn't stop by my page just to see if I had any thing up. at least I tend to do that)
I just can't go past that mark with what ever I build really.
@Quintasoarus yea I know. and I can't find that out really. I max out at 751mph more often 750. with no way to further reduce drag. or go faster because more engiens only screws the build more. and I know people have done like 753 or 4 on 3 or something.
@Quintasoarus the best I'm going to manage is 2:14 with perfect consistency. I'm not as good with props as I am jets. (also I say perfect but that's with every test so far and I use it as a test subject to go against new builds I try to work up)
I'm simply having trouble pushing past 751mph as a top speed. and I don't know how to go any faster honestly.
@Quintasoarus not sure if possible. the weight needed for fuel in this one will slow the faster craft down that other wise would be theoretically fast enough for that.
@Zkillerwolfe yea you learn as you go along. it took me a few tournaments to fully figure out how to functionally build. and even then I force visual ascetic along side function.
@Camroncs just mentioning. because I have many subassmeblies with modded parts my self to save the time of going into the files every time I want a specific attribute on a part.
@Unstable yea thats a physics glitch. to fix that you want to have modded wings (which by the way are allowed in non modded races) its simply turning a normal wing into a structural one but it can still use control surfaces. it just keeps it from flexing and therefore breaking the game or its self
@MAHADI the only modding allowed are things such as part rotation and changing the color on jet engine trails which jets are not in this tournament. so in the end. no modding is allowed.
and @Delphinus before you say any more. he can try to enter a modded plane if he wants but he won't be able too. its not like this is an "honor system" there are mod checks on entries.
@Supercraft888 no its just a basic nudging trick... problem is because I didn't make the sub assembly that makes up this (the sub assembly is 3 of these engines in a nose piece) I can't recreate it my self and make it more effecient. nor can I teach you how to do it becuase my self I don't even understand it really.
If I could figure out how to optimize the partcount of the engines of my entry plane... I could reduce drag and weight by a lot... buuut I have no idea how the engine segment works in the first place as I wasn't the one who actually built the sub assembly that makes up the thing..
@Alienbeef0421 noo... I mean it probably would if I went for weight reduction but the second set of main wings helps with roll stability and control. and extra weight from fuel. also the engine segment is a mess. that I will never be able to fix.
also. fuel. this is one of the longer courses. you need that fuel.
@Supercraft888 I could tell you how to clip the smallest variety of plane engine... but this mess of the largest prop is a giant un-optimized mess that has more drag and weight than it needs and in the end honestly I have no fucking clue how it works. I just have a sub-assembly that can place on each other then nudge into place.
So I've got a reliable 2:14. (faster than it sounds). Had to add some weight to my P-56K by reworking its wings for this but speed loss is minimal if any really.
@pilot186 just letting you know. the ingame "Drag view" is very inaccurate and unhelpful among other things. just look at your plane stats and look at drag points above every thing else when thinking about drag.
@TakicraftCorporation hey to be fair my plane in the last prop tournament (not indie air race the bandit run one) was faster than every thing it just had a slightly longer acceleration time. and maneuverability which made it lose by a very small hair.
@KSPFSXandSP the idea of the mod class is more that you are going to be able to mod your individgual parts via XML, for things like weight. fuel part scale power scale etc. more so than actual mods from the hundreds of mods that have been put on the mod list. and specifically parts from those mods in that aspect.
@KiNo thinking back on it I could have simply part scaled the entire thing to about .5 size. and then made the engine to 3x power instead of 2. may do that for the next modded. or well. enter one of my J-80
@CALVIN232 Propers setup is your rear wheels. or rear sets of wheels. have to have maximum traction. while your turning wheels have less. unless you're using wings for turning in which case just set every thing to max and make sure you have good horizontal based wing load (no number you can see for htat. its just guess work)
@ahappyape I tend to like doing that with my builds. they don't do bad. AI just either screws me or i get caught out early by a precision engineered machine of crap or something.
@CALVIN232 @Viperfox if you want a plane to stay stable while having very fast roll and pitch rate you need a large rudder far behind the center of mass. the heavier the plane the larger you need for stability.
@ThatOnion it doesn't even have to be that much of an improvment. just a meaningful change that doesnn't involve just a simple pallet swap or engine spam.
@Sunnyskies I had wanted to do that my self.... but tests with my J-80 proved to show that.... it can't do Daredevil. the bridges are just too limiting on it. :P
@EarthwormJim I've actually had it where because it counts as missed. the race just doesn't end. it was fixed in the last tournament if I remember right but that's still annoying.
Well I got my entry. if any one can help me with turning collisions off that would be nice. (last I tried I bugged my last plane and it just didn't work like that). 59 seconds. but Im going for reliability here. remember. a slow plane won the last dare devel :P
@WillB88 that doesn't pose that much of an advantage. all that's doing is moving your center of lift forwards which moving wings does as well.
Simple planes doesn't model advanced types of drag on say wings. so it honestly wouldn't be that much of an advantage.
@Alienbeef0421 its an on road track in the desert. but the track is up lifted from the ground around it. and you can fall off and will have to be able to get back on.
@Quintasoarus yes. I know how this works. (i'm guessing you didn't stop by my page just to see if I had any thing up. at least I tend to do that)
I just can't go past that mark with what ever I build really.

@Quintasoarus not sure if possible. the weight needed for fuel in this one will slow the faster craft down that other wise would be theoretically fast enough for that.
@Quintasoarus what do you mean? 2:12 is great. one of the top times really. just make sure its reliable.
@TheRedStormer read
the
rules
there's a link to the tournament guide right there. in blue. only highlighted thing on the page.
@Camroncs you could just try building a new plane and not using sub assemblies
@SuperSanic weight scale, power scale, size scale. all not allowed. all changes that are allowed are pusly cosmetic.
@Unstable yea thats a physics glitch. to fix that you want to have modded wings (which by the way are allowed in non modded races) its simply turning a normal wing into a structural one but it can still use control surfaces. it just keeps it from flexing and therefore breaking the game or its self

@Alienbeef0421 well you failed. partially. having wings like that is prone to colliding with the props and destroying the entire craft.
@HydroNeon or you could build your plane better so that it turns faster and not crash into said mountian.

@Alienbeef0421 (not sure what... I'm suppose to get out of that)
Also, Don't mind me. just waiting for The dragon to pop up for a tournament. and hoping that it is not modded.
@KSPFSXandSP obviously that's exactly what happened. its mod class but they aren't going to have every single mod downloaded.
@KiNo thinking back on it I could have simply part scaled the entire thing to about .5 size. and then made the engine to 3x power instead of 2. may do that for the next modded. or well. enter one of my J-80
Wow its a shame your plane got knocked out due to AI. it was quite good in tournament. (altho watching it you had a clear problem of roll stability)
you know honestly I never thought of the idea of building a plane for this that is simply very small.
GG tho. I'm just happy I made it to the finals.
@CALVIN232 Propers setup is your rear wheels. or rear sets of wheels. have to have maximum traction. while your turning wheels have less. unless you're using wings for turning in which case just set every thing to max and make sure you have good horizontal based wing load (no number you can see for htat. its just guess work)
@CALVIN232 1: lower wing load. 2: move center of lift fartehr backwards. 3: balance hte pitch so the AI dosn't wobble it.
@ahappyape I tend to like doing that with my builds. they don't do bad. AI just either screws me or i get caught out early by a precision engineered machine of crap or something.
@Alienbeef0421 actually the rule on those 1.1 version engines only applies in prop tournaments. any other class they're allowed.
@marcox43 Getting to the finals got me gold too so I'm happy :D
@KiNo stability=reliability :3
@CALVIN232 @Viperfox if you want a plane to stay stable while having very fast roll and pitch rate you need a large rudder far behind the center of mass. the heavier the plane the larger you need for stability.
Holy crap I did better than I expected. wow. finals. :D
@CALVIN232 because of improper setup of wheel traction and such. that's how. if your wheels do not have proper traction suspension means nothing.
@SuperSanic just under 2 minutes..... that's a joke right? good times these days are around 1 minute average. higher or lower.
Yea i just didn't enter this one. Figured something like that would win again.
@ThatOnion it doesn't even have to be that much of an improvment. just a meaningful change that doesnn't involve just a simple pallet swap or engine spam.
@Alienbeef0421 I asked for help not passive aggressive sarcasm.
@Alienbeef0421 I did. and that's what I used in my attempt and that's what bugged the plane out.
@AudioDud3 its mod class. pretty sure that's allowed. (it better be, because my current entry has its engine at 50% of its weight)
Well I got my entry. if any one can help me with turning collisions off that would be nice. (last I tried I bugged my last plane and it just didn't work like that). 59 seconds. but Im going for reliability here. remember. a slow plane won the last dare devel :P

@WillB88 and that means, what exactly?
@Alienbeef0421 its an on road track in the desert. but the track is up lifted from the ground around it. and you can fall off and will have to be able to get back on.
@DeductedSum actually I should have mentioned this but I figured out how to power scale on my own. sorry.
