@TheOwlAce its a race about speed not a beuty contest. you can enter a plane with looks but if you want to make it a few rounds you have to build it right. (also side note. your plane hardly had any "characteristics" to begin with. sorry I'm just being brutally honest.
@TheOwlAce the only reason I made it is to show a contrast between your design. and the kind of design you'd need to get any where in a tournament like this.
@TheOwlAce I nudged the cock pit into the main body which I made thicker. I removed your engines and put a longer segment of engines. I made all new wings. and smoothed out the optoins you had on the shape of the fuel tanks. its not your plane. its an upgraded variant.
@TheOwlAce at least give it a test fly to see the differnce. like really I'm trying to help you out. the key to learning and getting better is accepting that you have more to learn.
@TheOwlAce I just did. and the reults: its slow. when in AI control it has a horrible pitch wobble. its roll rate is bad. and if you're using it for hte tournament hte landing gear add weight and drag that don't need to be there.
@TheBoeingEngineer the reason its deactivated is because some people can use bombs and such on their builds to give them a boosted start some how. weapons are banned but that simply means they won't be used by the AI really.
Its a pretty good design. however there are a few key flaws.
A: you have quite a high wing load. 36lbs (or 179kg what every ou use) is quite high.
B: you have quite low enigne power and quite high drag.
@StraightOuttaSnacks you don't nudge engnies to get them inside fuel segments. you manipulate the camera so you're looking inside the fuel tank and then put an engine inside there. and then save the whole segment as a sub assembly you then repeat a few times for your engine segment.
@Sauce yes. you submit the unlisted plane. and once the tournament starts. that plane becomes listed. its away to enter a secret plane to keep your plane secret so no one takes your design ideas.
Its allright. but. its a bit over designed with plenty of issues to point out. the control surfaces on the wings are way to small. a 3 body design using those small engines is low power to high drag and weight. you're much better with a single body shaft as thats a lot less drag and weight. overall it has potential you just got to use it. I'd suggest up-sizing it to fit the largest engine size and then trying to minimize drag. keep an eye on the wing load while you're at it.
the overall design is too small. engine isn't strong enough. is smallest engine I can only assume is still at default horse power and such settings. the overall body is lacking in aerodynamics. the wings could be bigger. the wing load is a tad bit on the higher side. and you should be using costomizable fuel tanks. they're the cylinder fuel tanks you see at the bottom of the parts list. you can customize the shape of those things. much better for building planes in genneral. now I will say. I very likely doubt you'll build a winning design in 12 days but its always good to improve. so since you're going to be doing a single engine design. use the largest propeller engine and max out its HP. (you have to go into the settings of the part. which allows you to add more proppellers make them thicker. and make them have more power. and remember. if you ever want to check the stats of your plane. just open the menu in the top left and hit plane statistics (or specifications idk either one or something you should see it). it will tell you important information. the key thing you'll want to see is wing load. it should be as low as you can. 25lbs/ft is good. even lower is better.
I will admit. these tournaments are the only reason I play simple planes any more. it gives me something to work towards. it gives me something to look forward to. it gives me motivation. so I'm glad to see another one.
also side note. I have perfectly tuned my needler racing plane for this race. I feel like it may have a real chance at winning :D
@OtterOfToast you think that's bad? try having 2 successfull rounds. near perfect practice runs. just for the third race to make you fly right into the water 2 times in the exact same spot.
@crazymanny start at bandit air port. follow the string of islands stemming north of there. and secondly. its not "yeti island" that's just the name of the track. its snow stone island.
@TheOwlAce fine tune*
and secondly finely turning the flight mechanics of your planes is more of a couple hour thing not couple months.
@TheOwlAce and your planes do look good. except that one. I could build that in 5 minutes.
@TheOwlAce its a race about speed not a beuty contest. you can enter a plane with looks but if you want to make it a few rounds you have to build it right. (also side note. your plane hardly had any "characteristics" to begin with. sorry I'm just being brutally honest.

@Tully2001 I never said it wasn't easy. I'm just saying you can't go past that.
@TheOwlAce at least give it a test fly to see the differnce. like really I'm trying to help you out. the key to learning and getting better is accepting that you have more to learn.
@BaconAircrafts you know that wouldn't even work. AI doens't touch trim and VTOL cmmands.
@TheOwlAce why not? I am trying ot help you here. You A had a lot of useless parts on your verison. and B are still learning.
@TheOwlAce I just did. and the reults: its slow. when in AI control it has a horrible pitch wobble. its roll rate is bad. and if you're using it for hte tournament hte landing gear add weight and drag that don't need to be there.

@kikasshes it says about scaled parts in the tournament guide.
@kikasshes so those wings sitting way in the back are nudged? not holding on to a super thin piece?
@Johndfg yea 750 but he said 750+. which means he some how went over 750 despite that not being possible with propeller engines.
@TheBoeingEngineer the reason its deactivated is because some people can use bombs and such on their builds to give them a boosted start some how. weapons are banned but that simply means they won't be used by the AI really.
Doensn't this plane go against the XML part scaling rule?
@kikasshes 750+? thats impossible 750 is the speed limit of propeller engines.
@TheBoeingEngineer no its an intentional thing for builds that need a group active at the start.
Its a pretty good design. however there are a few key flaws.
A: you have quite a high wing load. 36lbs (or 179kg what every ou use) is quite high.
B: you have quite low enigne power and quite high drag.
@TheOwlAce remember to remove the weapons.
@KingDeadshot that doesn't help me. I need a link to your plane in uploaded form. other wise I can not help you.
@KingDeadshot what plane are you using? I could help
@StraightOuttaSnacks you don't nudge engnies to get them inside fuel segments. you manipulate the camera so you're looking inside the fuel tank and then put an engine inside there. and then save the whole segment as a sub assembly you then repeat a few times for your engine segment.

Its giant. and cool looking. I'll give you that much :3
@Supercraft888 there is a 100 part max part count. so 99 since hte cockpit counts as one part.
@Nexus24680 no. XML modding has to do with game files.
you entering the tournament? I'd like to see what ya got for it :D. (also nice simple plane)
Time to take the P-58 Needler out of retirement. give it some upgrades.
@Supercraft888 read your own comments.
@Supercraft888 I did that 5 days ago :3
@Quintasoarus I did it with a slower jet. 1:08 100% reliability.
this doesn't relate to the tournament. but @AndrewGarrison will we ever get turbo propeller engines? :D
@Tully2001 Honestly I'm going to stick with my entry. a slow 1:08 average with 100% reliability.
@EnderWiggin I see most of hte planes just missing a ton of rings and crashing into pillars.
I'm a bit slow at 1:08 but 100% reliability.
@Liquidfox I couldn't even find your barrel on your page.
@Liquidfox why don't you ever publicly upload your racing planes? I could help you if I could see it.
@OtterOfToast you think that's bad? try having 2 successfull rounds. near perfect practice runs. just for the third race to make you fly right into the water 2 times in the exact same spot.
@TemDesBur no it is not.
@GrumpyRacing I just hope we do unlimited. I don't like modded.
so i'm guessing loop do O is going to be the next race?
I got to give you credit. our race in the tournament was intense.
@CaraTuning @TehNewDucky its 65 specifically.
@crazymanny start at bandit air port. follow the string of islands stemming north of there. and secondly. its not "yeti island" that's just the name of the track. its snow stone island.
@Valkyrie well you only have 35 hours left to enter :U
@Quintasoarus you should enter it. :U
