@Alienbeef0421 well like I said. I modified it for reliablity which your direct version didn't have. and this type of setup at least in the rear is one of the best ways I know to do that.
@Alienbeef0421 yea but its not necessarily by choice. the thing wobbled hard which made it unreliable. and the roll wasn't strong enough at full pitch after trying to fix that so I had to fix that then. bit of speed reduction I know but this is for reliability.
@SuperSanic oh hey one second. I found your problem. your cockpit. its out of place. I can see the props lightly clip the corners of your cockpit. idk why it would only affect one lane but I can tell thath has to be it.
@SuperSanic go into game. and put your plane onto teh final approach of any of hte air ports. prefferibly wright air port. (its the fastest final approach) and see if your propeller catches on any thing and adjust from there. do not activate the engine. just let it coast and watch. that's why I said on final approach so you got speed to move hte props.
@Alienbeef0421 Here's my version. fixed the sever yaw wobble. muh more stable. tad bit slower unfortunatly but 2:13 reliable is better than what ever time it could have gotten had it finished the one of 5 tests I gave.
@SuperSanic I took a look at it and I can't explain it. since you have nothing that collides with the props on your plane idk. what's your physics simulation settings set to? that some times causes bugs.
@AndrewGarrison Idea for the next tournament. why don't we do an unlimited class run of the dragon? with another tournament running too for those who don't have access to that island.
@Meltingvenus1999 Probably not going to happen. the AI works on a very simple system really. wouldn't be much for you to customize even if it did happen.
@Zkillerwolfe actually you'd be best to take out the exact amount of fuel your plane needs. make it have enough to finish on its own time and you maximized that performance aspect.
@CALVIN232 using fine tuner to move parts is the same as nudging but more precise. and nudging has been allowed since the first tournament and will never be against the rules. also would be impossible to enforce even if you wanted too.
@CortwadeAirlines I garunntee you at least half the planes entering this will not finish or crash. but that's only half and you may or may not be put against a top competitor within the first few rounds.
@Meltingvenus1999 and wind tunnel seems cool at first but in the end like some what of a pointless idea. as we have a drag view which is bad. and you can just hop in and out of in game its self.
@Alienbeef0421 just a note. with out your gift this would have been my entry. honestly I think I've hit the limit of how fast I can get this thing. but on the bright side I am able to fit working landing gear which allows take off from runway on it. which means if we get a prop tournament on a track that starts from a take off I have a good advantage :P
@MrSev the best time's that are coming in hit in around the 2:15 mark. with people trying their hardest to push for 2:10. this is a longer course remember.
@CortwadeAirlines I don't see why we would. I can list quite a large host of problems with the plane. frankly you may win a few rounds. (or not. you have to be in under 3 minutes or you get timed out)
@CALVIN232 camera tricks and nudging. you put the engines inside the fuselage attached to the inside of the fuel tanks by putting your camera inside and then placing it inside.
@CALVIN232 well with out testing it I can tell you this much. its manuverable because you have a low wing load. but its slow. it only has 1 engine and its on automatic propeller pitch.
@CALVIN232 I mean dodging missiles is not a way I would use to determine your ability to do the race. I'd do that purely off straight AI tests of the track.
also I get the notion you don't know what wing load is do you?
@Zkillerwolfe because the body in its entity is much larger. longer. and retains its width for longer.
that said its also quite heavy. like. not just becasue it has a ton of engines but because the giant mess that is the engine mounting points inside that thing are often much bigger than they need to be but at this point its nearly unfixable. I just managed to get this to work. had to use fine tuner to re-align the engines after changing a few parts that were on it to straghten the casing and make it this smooth.
@Zkillerwolfe You think I haven't tried reducing drag? the previous version has 501 drag points. and that's about the best i'm going t get. these' aren't the small T1000 engines. this is the largest T3000. and the wings already are set to flat. and don't produce drag so best I can do.
@Viperfox don't. trust me. this is the top 5% of people here. there's the other 95% which you'll compete against. that said you mind mentioning me in your entry for a bit if critique?
@Alienbeef0421
1: as far as I can tell I can't really reduce drag all that much. optimization of the size of the tail and nose cone parts. but otherwise I can't.
2: wing placement?
3: I've run out of things to improve on it.
@Alienbeef0421 yea no trust me. I've tried. the T1000 craft's I've built can't have their drag reduced. if the fuselage is any smaller then the engine hubs and clockpit will start poking out of the body causing more drag. And frankly all attempts I've made with those thus far won't finish as fast nor be as reliable as my current entry the P-56-L which uses the T3000 engine segment which I have no idea how it works.
If i could figure out how that mess works I could reduce the drag by a ton and weight. buut I literally have no clue how it works and its a complexly woven mess that I will never understand.
@tank57 it has guns on it.
@Alienbeef0421 well like I said. I modified it for reliablity which your direct version didn't have. and this type of setup at least in the rear is one of the best ways I know to do that.
@Supercraft888
how many times must it be said by some one at least. read the rules. tournament guide RIGHT THERE.
@Alienbeef0421 yea but its not necessarily by choice. the thing wobbled hard which made it unreliable. and the roll wasn't strong enough at full pitch after trying to fix that so I had to fix that then. bit of speed reduction I know but this is for reliability.
@Alienbeef0421 you're*
@SuperSanic oh hey one second. I found your problem. your cockpit. its out of place. I can see the props lightly clip the corners of your cockpit. idk why it would only affect one lane but I can tell thath has to be it.
@KiNo no they're not too clos. I've had closer props that counter rotate.
@SuperSanic ok no look at the plane closly and see where it origionates.
@SuperSanic mid air colisions on the right side? hit object? just take a close look at it and see where the explosion origionates.
@SuperSanic set it to high. that's what's going to be used in the tournametn. that should be your testing base.
@Alienbeef0421 So for now I will work on making it more reliable. wing optimization and such. has a horrible yaw wobble.
@Zkillerwolfe yea well those are also the same people who usually crash within the first turn any how.
@Zkillerwolfe actually you'd be best to take out the exact amount of fuel your plane needs. make it have enough to finish on its own time and you maximized that performance aspect.
@Viperfox well you sure do. because the time limit is 3 minutes. take longer than that and you time out and lose.
@CALVIN232 I mean like this. you see? all the engines on it are inside the main fuselage in a self contained body that is minimizing drag.
@MrSev what I"m saying is that winning times are much slower than you thought.
with that said just make somethin that works. and then go from there.
@CALVIN232 using fine tuner to move parts is the same as nudging but more precise. and nudging has been allowed since the first tournament and will never be against the rules. also would be impossible to enforce even if you wanted too.
@Zkillerwolfe the only time you become too maneuverable is when the game starts to bug out because of it or the AI has a twerkathon with your plane.
@CortwadeAirlines I garunntee you at least half the planes entering this will not finish or crash. but that's only half and you may or may not be put against a top competitor within the first few rounds.
@Meltingvenus1999 and wind tunnel seems cool at first but in the end like some what of a pointless idea. as we have a drag view which is bad. and you can just hop in and out of in game its self.
naval base seems cool tho.
@Meltingvenus1999 also. nothing stoping you from driving around on the ground of the other islands. plenty of terrain to roam over
@Meltingvenus1999 we have an island for ground vehicles already with lots of terrain. a race track. jumps. etc.
@Alienbeef0421 oshit. thanks :D
@MrSev the best time's that are coming in hit in around the 2:15 mark. with people trying their hardest to push for 2:10. this is a longer course remember.
@Alienbeef0421 so you going to use this to enter at this point? or what. because this seems to have slightly bested your own build.
@CALVIN232 yes but you wan't 750mph base line and then push for beyond that.
@CALVIN232 well with out testing it I can tell you this much. its manuverable because you have a low wing load. but its slow. it only has 1 engine and its on automatic propeller pitch.
@CALVIN232 I was going to suggest redownloading but since you're not on steam you'd lose all your saved designs and such.
@CALVIN232 .....the fuck? ok what do you have the game on? steam? mobile? mac?
@CALVIN232 wait what do you mean you can't test the actual track? its in all versions of the game.
@CALVIN232 I mean dodging missiles is not a way I would use to determine your ability to do the race. I'd do that purely off straight AI tests of the track.
also I get the notion you don't know what wing load is do you?
@CALVIN232 ....ok...? and what does that have to do with the tournament then?
@Zkillerwolfe because the body in its entity is much larger. longer. and retains its width for longer.
that said its also quite heavy. like. not just becasue it has a ton of engines but because the giant mess that is the engine mounting points inside that thing are often much bigger than they need to be but at this point its nearly unfixable. @Viperfox take it as a complement. not a lot of people know how to build stronk.
@Viperfox don't. trust me. this is the top 5% of people here. there's the other 95% which you'll compete against. that said you mind mentioning me in your entry for a bit if critique?
@SkullsAndCrossbones @Viperfox you know. I hate to break it too you. but this thing sucks compared to the entries that I know are going to win.
So I've got a new entry. less than half the drag of the old version.
@Alienbeef0421
1: as far as I can tell I can't really reduce drag all that much. optimization of the size of the tail and nose cone parts. but otherwise I can't.
2: wing placement?
3: I've run out of things to improve on it.

@Alienbeef0421 if I shink them any more drag goes up. because then the engine hubs start to poke out and the cockpit as well.
If i could figure out how that mess works I could reduce the drag by a ton and weight. buut I literally have no clue how it works and its a complexly woven mess that I will never understand.
