@Thunderhawk recent sp transmissions I've seen adjust throttle of the engine based on wheel rpm. For example in 1st gear, at 300 rpm of the wheel, the the transmission formula would input .1 into the input of the engine. In 4th gear at 300 wheel rpm, the formula would spit out a value such as .8
That's the way I understand it. Basically you are creating an artificial "torque curve" that increases and decreases throttle as your speed changes, and different gears give you the most throttle for the speed you are at.
(Yes, this does create a torque effect in lower gears. At low rpm, in which power is most demanded, the lower gears' formula applies the most throttle to the engine.)
Def enjoying. Sometimes I get tired of building but it's fun to just download other people's aircraft or make something as a joke or something to screw around with in vr. You can make things in really short periods of time now too. I made a cessna fuselage and an off-road truck body in the span of 30 minutes each.
@Johnnyynf I believe each wheel attached to the engine has an equal torque applied to it. The speed seems to be able to vary, but the torque supplied to each wheel is the same. This is why I don't think this is the cause of the grip problems in sp, but rather the awful tire model as you suggested (though this engine mechanic does cause some odd behavior). The easiest "remedy" to this is to lower the sideways traction asymptote so its value is closer to the extremum, but it is less of a fix to the problem and more of a patch.
@Bellcat amazing! That's the one. I feel like there were other stock crafts that were removed too (or maybe they were all replaced). The game has changed a lot. Remember when the gui was white?
Cool! Did you hear the news that they removed "gullible" from the dictionary?
+1I don't think it would be possible to make a periscope because, as you stated, sp reflects only the terrain around you, not reflections from objects
+2Beautiful.
+2That's a nice change for a teaser!
This opens the door for some horribly stupid ideas
+11Desert
I've been waiting so long for this! Congrats on plat!
+1Yes . . . Now just give it a cool paint job.
+1But sexism is funny
+1Ly bro
I desperately hope this wins
+2T
Tryhard.
+1I hate all of you
+3Now THAT is spicy.
Wait you mean to tell me your urine is yellow instead of red?
This is hilarious
Very good plane
+2This is extremely clever
+1What a cool vehicle!
Congratulations! We love you!
+14,200 points pog
@BlunderBirb interesting
Also may I ask how you got the control base to stay in its position and not spring back to center? @BlunderBirb

Looks amazing bro! I think it will look way better when it's finished but feel free to upload it whenever.

+1This is a real piece of sp engineering
+2This is a unique experience! Not many subs with interiors on sp!
Wow.
+2Here is a forum post about it: https://www.simpleplanes.com/Forums/View/1454422/So-Jundroo-accidentally-added-1-part-custom-images-to-the-game

+1@Sparky6004 that's true but with new tools like fuselage slicing, a lot of 1000+ part builds can be made in 500 parts.
+1Exactly what I need, with the government always trying to tell us that the earth is round and birds are real.
+1Looks clean!
+1Yeah it sounds great!

+1I got really mad when I found out the connected part has no effect on the wheel
@BeastHunter I used to but I'm not sure where it went
+1Imagine this in VR... that would be amazing. Sounds super chill (albeit a bit lonely).
+1@ReinMcDeer
+5"Wait, it was all fake?"
"always has been"
Alright, fine, I'll upvote. You've convinced me.
Looks sick!

+1Holy crap that's segsy
Def needs a proper airfoil
Simpleplanes lore
+1But can it survive a 5kg ball thrown at its window?
