I screwed up and the air brakes aren't bound to group 1. You all will have to do it yourselves. My bad.

Here's how:

1. select the two airbrakes on top of the jet engines
2. click properties
   3.bind the brakes to group 1 and 'pitch'
   make sure the brakes are inverted
