Spread values

Spread values are a little thing where you can increase the top width of an object to make things like flared bows. It’s quite difficult in Simpleplanes, so i‘ll show an example from Navalart

Much easier to do with spread values, as seen here

USS Iowa blueprints, showing different spreads throughout the hull

How it seems to work: you add half of the total spread to each side. Not sure on how the maths, but that’s how i interpret it

The spread values would be in the same category as height and width, but as an extra option

Why do i think this should be a feature?
1. it takes a lot of too-difficult work out for builders.
2. less part count. More mobile friendly?
3. some blueprints actually have a diagram to show the spread of a bow, so it would be much easier to replicate things like that.
4. seaplanes! Battleships! Anything that needs spread values, because they look good! Also F-22 could use them too, so not just ships. Maybe tanks too.
5. It can let people have silly shapes with negative spread values too, like torpedo bulges.

What do you think?

@Enderhawk If you don't want to spend time on panels, you won't want to spend time on proper details cough cough. Amen, all hail the lord and savior.

@PolarG2478 also a good way to discourage users, meaning less people with potential would rise. You get what i mean, Trocky?

Panels. More work, less space for plebs, checkmate peasants, all hail the king.

@SnoWFLakE0s I don't know much about structure, but yeah, maybe starting from scratch would be easier than modifying current SP into something like that.
I am modifying one of my works now, and yes, modifying is really more painful than creating from the very start.

    .
If that ever happens, I'm going to expect it's for SP2. SimplePlanes's basic structure is too archaic in its current state to be as powerful. For such functionality, I think a completely new work from the ground up would be much more suitable.

@SnoWFLakE0s Well I won't expect that, too, but IF they can do it, they can make SimplePlanes into the first "CAD software with playability", it's going to be great. It will turn SP from a decent game into a great game that will leave its name in history.

    .
At that point why shouldn't SimplePlanes become an industry standard program? I mean, it's still a game... I'm not expecting game devs to compete with the number one industry standard software, really...

I think all we need to do is to add everything AutoCAD has... (extrude, subtract, rotate around given axis.... etc etc etc)
If something can't be made out of CAD (computer assisted design) commands then it doesn't exist.

    yes add this
the only reason I haven't attempted building a ship is cause I know I wouldn't be able to get the hull to look right. plus it would be useful for other things like complicated curves and such to make things look cool

That would make building hulls easier and more realistic.
