As I’m sure you’ve heard, JUNDROO is planning to make a Simple Planes 2. I do not believe this is necessary for a number of reasons
Simple planes is already perfected
Yeah, sure. The physics are bad, and the graphics could be better. But other than that, I see no reason why they can’t update it rather than make a whole new game.It will not be initially available on iOS
Because me, and many other people are poor, we don’t have a PC. And as we all know, PC users get all the updates and games first. And remember: this is a communist hierarchy based on points. If I can’t have it, no one can!We don’t want to adjust to new game controls
When Simple Rockets 2 first came out, we were all exited. When I bought it, I was not disappointed, although I couldn’t get much into it. I believe this is either because SR2 is too smart for me, or the controls and physics are too far off from Simple Planes. I believe that if SP2 were to become a thing, it would be difficult to accumulate to the controls. It’s a waste of money for the devs
Making a game is much cheaper than updating one. So with the previous 3 points, I believe Jundroo could be putting this money elsewhere.
I am not going to tag the devs because I’m nice. But I seriously hope that they will take these points into consideration. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going in my doomsday bunker to hide from the Hellstorm in the comments that is about to ensue.
@MAHADI wait really
Jundroo is a game developer, and for them to continue existing, they need to create new products to sell. Continuing to update SP is nice for us, but it doesn't help their bottom line. I trust that the devs are building a better SP using all the feedbacks we have given them over the years.
Sir,
With due respect
I state that
SP2 is already here
if you check the Alpha version and a couple versions after the release and then check the latest version
you will see literally a newer game
also
In mathematics, 2 comes after 1.9
So,
You can count the next update as 2.0 if you wish even though it might be 1.10 who knows.
That's all sir.
Wait, SP2 is confirmed?
From my point of view, SP needs to solve the spaghetti of code before upgrading, I used to play KSP with at least 20 mods and that was way more demanding but optimized than SP, yet, SP is such a spaghetti of code that it doesn't use the given resources apropiately, I wrote a post about it in my bio. Unity has it's limits, it's an engine for small games, not for an overcomplex amount of stuff. if it were a newer game, maybe keep the same layout, but transfer it to a more powerful engine like Unreal engine or Havok, where we can go nuts about building and crashing stuff.
For point 1) SP is far from perfected, we still need more sliders and activation groups because there's simply not enough to make all the functions without a very clunky working mechanism. Modders have created such incredible maps, that I wish they were the default maps, visual effects and even parts completely from scratch, those things should have been by default in the game! take into account SP is no longer about aircrafts, it's aircrafts, ground vehicles, naval vessels and even spaceships.
Also, Android is a market now, and the game has to accomodate to both worlds, and difference between monster pc's and a RoG phone, there's still a gigantic gap in performance. they're completely different operating systems, one based on Linux an the other on Windows or IOs. you can't compare an android 2.2Ghz octacore vs an entry level 3.4Ghz quad core with hyperthreading, and not even joke about the ultra high gamma 4.5Ghz 12C / 24 threads that the new ryzen has. Graphics is even more of a joke.
I thought Communism/Marxism wanted to abolish all hierarchies?
Agree with the statement 100% but for different reasons. The 4th however I agree with. Not saying your other points are invalid, but I feel like they are quite insignificant
I agree!!!
It’s not like I don’t want to pay 12 dollars. I’ll gladly support jundroo. It’s the reasons above that I don’t want an SP2. @Kittyhawk909
Unlike @DarthAbhinav I couldn't care less about sentiment so I'll translate this post for those who don't feel like reading.
Brendorkus doesn't want to fork out 12 more dollars for an awesome game.
Let's face facts here. Balsa fs, Flyout, they're coming in hot. Storm works is already out and the developers who did warthunder and cross out are working on a modular plane building and combat game. If Jundroo doesn't act fast, they'll be closed out of the market by bigger names. Hell even Knife Edge, the developers of Realflight have started talking with the team doing Balsa, so it may already be happening.
Yeah, but they make more money with a new game as there are many returning customers.
@BagelPlane totally agree, I gave up with it as the ui was horrible.
SimplePlanes is an older game (around 5 years old) so it has older code. SP2 would allow for many new things that the devs have wanted to implement but can’t because of code restrictions.
I thought the devs said they weren't gonna do SP2
Simpleplanes landing gear, paint, etc sucks
SP has no space so rip spaceplanes
SR2 isn't compatible with SP built aircraft
I just got into it. I can’t even place 2 parts together without managing to screw it all up to a massive degree. Also really annoys me that parts instead of auto rotating to the side they should be fitting on instead just rotate so the front is facing forward which literally makes it impossible to build certain shapes without doing really precise part moving@BagelPlane
I'm pretty sure people want SP2 to be SP but with less code spaghetti so we could get updates more often.
Learning the SR2 build interface was a nightmare. Quite different from SP.
...into releasing new projects. The wider audience brought on by YouTubers such as Jelly and Frantic are long gone.
Now, let me make it clear that whilst I think it'd be beneficial for them to do so, I do not think Jundroo's gonna make an SP2 anytime soon since SR2 is their main priority at this point in time.
Firstly, I do not mean to hurt your sentiments, but please let me debunk every single point you just said.
No. No, it isn't. SimplePlanes is a game that can never be perfected. It's something akin to Minecraft, wherein content drops can be unlimited and even infinite. Tank tracks, updated engines, a more realistic physics model, actual instruments, interactive funky trees are but a tiny fraction of the spectrum. See this lovely forum post by @BogdanX.
What? Jundroo started developing games on iOS first. That makes no sense.
...said no one ever. Furthermore, SR2 is a game based on rockets and orbiting-mechanics. I believe SimplePlanes 2, if it ever comes out, will have a control schematic very similar to SimplePlanes.
This is the point that makes me incredibly, incredibly furious, especially since I'm a student of Economics and Commerce, however, I understand your perplexion and will attempt to break it down step-by-step.
1. Making a new game is never a "waste of money". The developer will be investing in a project that will only serve to give them more returns in the future.
2. With a community as dedicated as the one SimplePlanes has, a SP2 will definitely attract a lot of attention and will sell equally as well as SimplePlanes, and will almost certainly surpass it. I will explain the latter in forthcoming points.
3. Jundroo can't keep updating a 5-year old game for free. It doesn't make financial sense. Eventually the cost of maintaining the game will exceed the revenue earned from the website and from the game's sales.
4. Jundroo could've, in my opinion, capitalized on SP release 1.10 to rebrand the SimplePlanes game as SP 2.0, releasing WNP's glass and smoothening as a 1.9.x+1 update. That, however, is a lost opportunity and it doesn't matter anymore. The developers could, conversely, provided they do release a SimplePlanes 2, use this new game and utilize better marketing strategies (partnership with YouTubers, better use of social media, etc.) in order to propagate their game. A relaunch/rebranding/sequel will definitely help SP and will give it a tremendous boost in popularity.
Right now, the game has become a very small, yet close-knit community of individuals who (generally) pour a decent amount of effort into releasing...
Yeah just keep updating SP
tbh, with enough time they could over-hall physics and graphics. the community just has to be patient. maybe also the AI and cars but physics on their own would be good, I guess just any of those 3 would be fine as an update.
How is this opinion unpopular
How dare you
It’s mostly perfect @Mostly
