All images are from the wiki article btw

The main waiting room
The Corinthian columns of New York Penn Station's Main Waiting Room
The Main Waiting Room, c. 1911

@Graingy ok then god
@Boeing727200F I am not Graingy. Graingy is a company.
no you are @Graingy
@jamesPLANESii Fear me.
I can't even grow a neckbeard since I am a rock.
I am GOD.
@Graingy 177K in a year from comments alone?!?!? Holy baloney lol
Okay, you're good 😅
@THEOKPILOT Imagine how I feel, I'm Martian.
@Graingy "I need to find some grass, fast". We don't have that where I'm from. Really. No grass at all.
Getting some megalaphobia here.
@RailfanEthan Uncanny is not the same as bad.
Personally I can see what they're getting at. The monumental scale dwarfs the few people in the picture, making one feel small and the environments empty. That being said, I personally find the architecture quite beautiful.
@jamesPLANESii The value in being here is that it's a community, united by common interest. That interest doesn't need to be the only thing talked about, however. You don't have random people you've never seen before coming by, who if you checked their profile you'd see unholy activity in the minutes prior.
And trust me, I'm familiar with Reddit. Just had the 1 year anniversary for the Graingy account a couple days ago and I've already racked up like 160k terminally online points. I'm not proud, per se, but I do find it cynically hilarious. I need to find some grass, fast
@Graingy This is an aeroplane building game forum and here we're discussing train station architecture from a Wikipedia page you came across.
And as a person who uses reddit a lot, I can absolutely tell you that you'll enjoy it. As for you, I'd definitely say you need discord lol
there's way worse looking train stations out there
@jamesPLANESii Trust me, it's not worth it.
@WisconsinStatePolice This ain't brutalism, unless you're just comparing it to brutalism.
The absence of people, most likely.
looks like a m*rder scene
Cameras back then were high exposure, leading to some interesting pictures
Mr incredible vibes
Bro I think you need to get Twitter or Reddit or something lol
The structure is definitely a copy made by an enlightened machine seeking to learn about humanity
I think that's subjective.
But I do feel that way about some Brutalism architecture in which the sky isn't directly visible. Two of the images you've linked evoke some fringe of a distant feeling.
It’s not just you
