Clarifying Things Up.

So it seems like half the community thinks that TSAD are a bunch of cheaty, script abusing bastards who think they are superior.

Well, I have no idea where people are pulling this information from. I've been a member of TSAD group for almost 3 months now, and I've got to say, you guys are judging a book by its cover...

  • We don't use scripts to generate aircraft for us. I have no clue what the person was thinking we he made this claim. Most of our design takes from days to months to complete through tens to hundreds of stages.

  • I have no idea where this "they think they're better than everyone" statement is coming from but it simply not the case. Similar to SP Masters, we have users ranged from bronze to platinum, iOS to PC, and a range of skill levels. Not once did I recall anything to do with superiority over other were mentioned in the group.

  • It is insulting. qq358516298 has been posting constant progress updates on the group chat for the past month, and through all that effort put into his Ferrari, it is quite insulting for someone to make a claim of "cheating."

  • Here's the process of the making of my current fictional BaconLiner aircraft. Explain to me how I could of used a script...

  • If you still think we are cheaty, don't worry my friend, it is perfectly normal because in the psychology of human behavior, denialism is a person's choice to deny reality, as a way to avoid a psychologically uncomfortable truth.

  • ...technically we do use mods. You can download fine tuner and overload mods in the mods section of the website.

Humans just love drama and will go to any length to fuel any rumors that keep them entertained. It's retarded, when you think about it. They would rather believe an entertaining lie than the truth.

I knew there was something wrong when he [General] posted something, but was drowned by "TSAD kindergarten" as he liked to say.

TSAD is the group I'm involved in, it's some random users who make the false accusation of external software and cheating. @dsr1aviation

Funny you'd ask. What we do is spitting the wing into multiple points where we examine the cross section and then panel it back in with excessive use of XML editing. It's some simple trigonometry to get the shapes and angles right. We only use FineTuner and Overload. @ForeverPie

For me it's the wings. Although yes, it's not coding, but there seems to be some sketch up or other external 3d modelling system involved with making the wings on TSAD planes.

There will always be haters mate. Personally ive followed you for a long time. A year at the very least. Although i stopped building myself, its good to come back every now and then to see all the stuff ive missed. I dont know this TSAD group but it sounds like the group that General360 and a few others started a long time ago on kik. Point is, ignore it, they hate cos they cant match your groups skills.

@WEAPONSMITH Yeah, I saw that. Impressive work, but even at 3000+ parts the model it generates looks blocky, so it's not very practical.

And then theres me. Too lazy to put in enough effort to even have a chance of joining a prestigious builders group. My design efforts are put into designing racing quadcopters

@temporaryaccount I say any use of any tool is fine. Let's say that tomorrow someone comes up with a script that lets them convert a detailed model created in Blender to a SimplePlanes airplane with the click of a button. Not only is there nothing wrong with this, it would be a great innovation. The only correct response to it would be to ask the SP developers to integrate that method of construction into the game. Anyone who says it's "cheating" is like those people who complained when the printing press came along and books no longer had to be copied by hand, or when the mechanical loom came along and put manual weavers out of business. Innovation is good -- it eliminates drudgery and makes resources cheap and plentiful.

I think most people on this website are in school, so let me ask them, if you have to write an essay for school, do you write it by hand and claim that you should get higher marks than someone who used a laptop and a printer, because they "cheated?"

If you work, and there's someone else who does the same job in half the time, do you ask your boss to pay you more because you take longer to do the same task?

I'm sure most, if not all people on this website buy their groceries from someone else. Is there anyone who grows their own vegetables, raises their own livestock, and claims that anyone who doesn't do the same is "cheating?"

Someday, someone's going to release a game where you can use an interface like Blender/3D Studio/Solidworks to create any shape you desire, with curves as smooth as you want. Instead of laboriously building 1000+ part builds out of clunky lego-like blocks, people will be able to draw the outlines of the shape and have the game engine fill them in, so that they'd be building highly detailed airplanes in hours or days, instead of weeks or months. I wonder how many people would then say "No, it's more honorable/creative to do it the old-fashioned way! I'm still going to take months to build my planes!"

To be fair I thought the argument was that TSAD was using scripts to build near perfect replicas, not fictional planes. (I don't care if you use a script or not it just grinds my gears when people who use scripts start to claim to be better builders)

Well, this is funny. "Cheaty, script abusing b__s?" I'm proud to say that yes, I do use scripts to generate the shapes for my builds. Show me someone who thinks that's cheating and I'll show you someone who's just jealous that they can't do the same. I write the scripts for every shape myself -- if anyone thinks what I do is easy, I say put your money where your mouth is and do the same, just once. I openly challenge anyone who accuses me of cheating to replicate Eris, Tenebrus II, or Hover Howitzer any way they like.

Secondly, I gather that there is this notion in the community that the amount of time spent creating a build is somehow a measure of its quality. To those who claim this, I hate to burst your bubble, but in the real world, when someone figures out a way to do something faster and more efficiently, that's considered an achievement.

Theres one last thing i dont get. Even when you are using script, wroting a script takes a lot of time, and in my oppinion its quite honorable to be able to do so.
Its not cheating, SimplePlanes is a game without actual rules, you can xml-edit the power of engines etc.
I think people who are using scripts are just playing it anoter way

Maybe TSAD needs some transparerncy/human relations. Maybe an stream in how they make the planes?.
Anyways, I think it is pretty hard to come up with a script that lets you generate aircraft with just some data as "30 ft wingspan, 2 engines..."

Even if you did use an external program to generate planes, how is it cheating? There is no cheating if there are no rules. If someone says you cheat, then just brush them off.

I'm unclear on what's happening here, you're being accused of cheating/scripting because you're good at making planes? Also what's TSAD?

Personally, TSAD is doing nothing wrong at all. In fact, this isn't the first game I play that benefits from a group of Chinese players. Battleship Craft's main mods are all made by Hansa, a Chinese forum user.😜I honestly wish I could be good enough to be part of TSAD, especially given that I am Chinese, and fluent in it, but my lackadaisical building skills prevent that.... (And the IOS too!)
