Now a days you barely see 747-400's anymore. Most airlines retired them by now,but I managed to spot one British Airways at LAX. So today my family headed home from LA from vacation, and while I was waiting for my flight to arrive(which was delayed 30 minutes) I noticed a British Airways plane taxi by the terminal. At first,I thought it was an A380, but then I noticed there was a hump. I hurried to get my phone and I think I got a pretty good picture.
@dootdootbananaus no they aren't rare yet
@WaffleCakes I saw a 380 at LAX in either July or August
@WaffleCakes I think there was an article I read about it somewhere, but yeah it's rather sad
@MrSilverWolf but they were just introduced in 2011! And they use GENX engines!
@WaffleCakes I'm not sure what Airlines but I've heard that the -8s will be leaving also
(Passenger ones, the freight ones will be here a while I believe)
@MrSilverWolf wait what airlines are retiring their -8's too? I thought that it was meant for a new generation of 747!
Oh ok. @snowflake
Impossibru
@snowflake yeah I knew the freight part of it, it's just sad to see the passenger ones go
Yay!@snowflake
747s are the best. Love the spiral staircase.
Where I live it's pretty much only 744s, we had one 748 from korea flying here, but they downgraded to 777
Oh ok. That's sad though. Wait a minute. Uh oh. AIR FORCE ONE! @KidKromosone @MrSilverWolf @Stellarlabs
Good spotting! Singapore airline last 747 has gone in 2012 :/ I believe so.
And actually that's a good picture!
@Zoomzoom999 I believe so
@Strikefighter04 well long story short, they are older aircraft, first flight was in the early 60s I believe and it's not nearly as efficient to operate as a 787 or A350
Are airlines retiring their commercial 747-8 too? @WaffleCakes
I saw an 747 yesterday actually, but it was at the good year airport with its engines removed and a few other things removed also :(
The most known aircraft 747..... I can’t believe it’s going out. It made way for the new though.
@Strikefighter04 they can be really expensive and newer more cheap aircraft are being made.
They’re old. Designed in the 1960s not super effecient, expensive to maintain.@Strikefighter04
Why are all the 747's being retired?
