Scale modelling

43.9k poopatron71  6.6 years ago

I don't use the forums much so im not sure if this has been covered much before, but I've been doing a bit of scale modelling for around a year now and I would really recommend it.

For anyone who does'nt know scale modelling is making models of things (Aircraft, Tanks, Cars, Figures, Sci-fi stuff and whatever else you can find.) but smaller. I currently do 1/72 scale. Mostly 1930s aircraft but I just finished a WW1 tank, Really enjoyed building, painting and covering it in mud. As well as making a scene around it in a photo frame with tiny figures and blown apart twig trees.

I find it a bit more rewarding than simpleplanes being able to add so much more detail and to have them on a shelf in my room.

Please give me your thoughts if you have or have considered giving the hobby a go.

The Mk.1 tank diorama I just finished.

    Christ dude, that’s amazing! I also model airplanes myself, and I think I’m going to do the Tamiya Bf-109 Messerschmitt next.

    @poopatron71 they are. The plastic quality, the fit of the pieces, and painting isn’t required as all of the pieces are coloured

    I always thought the Gladiator should’ve been a monoplane.

    @PhantomBladeCorp Nice!
    I heard that Porsche made an entry for the hull of the King tiger but the turrets were made by another company.

    I've made a 1:72 King Tiger with the Porsche turret and a 1:35 Kanonenjagdpanzer (or KaJaPa, as it was called on the box). Both look terrible and can't even move xd

    @KidKromosone Yeah, I have some N scale too, and a O scale set from Lionel. I haven't gotten too much from Lionel because that stuff is expensive.
