Stop Comparing The Polikarpov PO2 To Lesser Airplanes
I get it. Everyone loves the Mule. The only biplane to shoot down a jet was also the scourge of the Wehrmacht. Sneakier than a B-2 bomber, she could fly so slow that other planes couldn't shoot her down. Also good gas mileage.
But that is no reason to unfairly compare her to weaker planes from other countries! Everyone knows that the P-51 Mustang is 100% less Russian. There's no need to rub it in.
Let me give you an example. The Amerikansky SR-71 "Black Bird"
Yeah, the black paint is a nice touch. But let's not fool ourselves. This plane is totally inferior in every way. It only has 1/4 as many wings as the PO2, it sucks down gas like... ok nevermind what it sucks gas down like but it's a lot. Ok? If you need to spray pesticides on your potato fields, guess what? No vodka for you. You can't even fly it without the engines (both of them) turned on! Pathetic.
Now let's take a look at this fine example. She has beauty, grace, wheels, what more do you want? Plenty of room for pesticides, looted artifacts, or your friend Igor. Lots of fresh air, too. No cramped interiors on this plane. No sir! Just as much cool, fresh Communist air as you can possibly handle.
Not convinced yet? Perhaps you think you could haul Igor around in an Airbus? Open the doors of an A-350 and sprinkle the crops that way? Sure. You could...
Just look at it. A convoluted mess. The designers couldn't even remember to include a tailgunner position. But worst of all, how would you feel if I told you it needs a road? Don't believe me? Look it up. The A-350 requires its very own kilometer of road that is not only flat but paved just to land. In weak, western nations they euphemistically call these roads "runways." I call it pathetic.
So you see comrades, it's just not fair to compare a steed such as the PO-2 to lowly western aircraft. It degrades the Polikarpov. Be wise, be merciful, think twice.
It's amazing how obsolete "russia stronk" jokes are now.

Could I compare PO2 to an American Air Tractor? (Which can spread seed over field quicker) :D or to a British Nimrod (which can fly on 1 of its 4 engines) However, on the airbus part, yes, Airbus is superseded by the PO2, and it did give the Germans Nightmares, if it wasn’t attacking them at night :D

@LancasterAce Fun fact: when they began designing the F-18, they started with a Northrop F-5. Discarding things they didn't like, advancing things they did they eventually reworked the entire design into what we have now. Boeing of course had nothing to do with it at all, Northrop designed the first prototype, then later partnered with Mcdonnell Douglas to improve it. Most of Boeing's fighters are old Mcdonnell Douglas designs, they were true masters of small aircraft design but sadly got eaten up by larger companies.
