Though there are gaps in the shield but I think its fine not to make it fully cover the ship. how are you even gonna see through it (orbit view well work)
All so, I messed around a little with this concept and it didn't really work out for me.
It didn't stop missiles and would damage the vehicle if it moved.

it stops missiles and fuselage that are non-XML modded
Taking a page from @Sadboye12, @Spefyjerbf, and my own research, I'd say that the quickest solution for this sort of issue.... would be making another "bouquet o' guns", this time static and actually having full coverage. Set the roundsPerSecond to some arbitrarily large number, the burstCount to "1", the timeBetweenBursts to the actual wanted time between individual "shield updates", and the lifetime and muzzleVelocity to a set of numbers that multiplies into the ship's length. Or, if you're using pistons to "open" the shield, set both values to something small but none-zero.

As for how to hide the bullets.... make the bulletScale something like "0, [12.5× your ship's length in meters], 0".

That is actually useful.👍
@DISHWASHER2005
... which way? For my sanity I'll just assume the visual effects isn't the shield itself.
T
@ThomasRoderick I made the shield that way
