Year: 1979

Manufacturer: Asteroid Industries

Description:
That As-20 Puma is a twin-engine subsonic multirole fighter aircraft that first flew in Operation Tightrope. Built almost exclusively for this role, it was of the essence that it be compact, have good maneuverability, but not be too fast to the point where pilots had difficulty controlling it. It was also able to carry a heavy payload, with 4 wing hardpoints, a hardpoint underneath the fuselage, and two wing mounts for air-to-air missiles. Rather than the conventional air-to-air machine gun, it had a 100mm cannon mounted in the nose to destroy ground and air targets with maximum efficiency and power. The Puma proved very popular with pilots and a very effective unit. (I based it off a Mirage III, F-4 Phantom II, and an Su-27 Flanker)
