HMS Surprise
Here's a very rough replica of the HMS Surprise, in celebration of reaching Gold! This is about as high a part count as I can comfortably run on my phone, but I may release a version with a built-out great cabin and more details on deck. In the mean time, this version is fully functional and reasonably nice to my phone. I won't exactly call it mobile-friendly, but I have an older phone so who knows. This ship sails reasonably well in winds between 10 and 50 knots, and can even sail slightly to windward. With careful timing, it can tack without stalling in irons.
Controls:
This is a sailing ship, and has no other means of propulsion. Some knowledge of sailing will be helpful. Fortunately you have the power of a minor god and can control the direction of the wind!
-Yaw to steer. The rudder will become more effective as the ship gathers way.
Sail Trim:
-VTOL controls the mainsail, the staysails, and the jib. VTOL up to ease the sheets, VTOL neutral to haul.
-Trim braces the yards around to port and starboard.
Cannons:
-Activate 1 to open the starboard gunports and load the starboard cannons.
-Activate 2 for port side gunports and cannons.
-Pitch up and down to adjust elevation.
History and lore:
HMS Surprise was designed and built in France, and originally launched into service in 1794 as the corvette Unité. Captured by British forces in 1796, she was rechristened HMS Surprise and reclassified as a frigate. She gained distinction for her roll in the recapture of HMS Hermione in 1799. After the peace of 1802, she was sold out of service and decommissioned.
Surprise is best known today in her fictional role as the beloved ship of Captain James "Lucky Jack" Aubrey in Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series.

Good to see someone building square-rigged ships with stay sails, good job!
