Description:
The Kamov Ka-335 or simply Orni-03 is a hybrid electric swing-wing aircraft of the elite forces of the Russian Navy. was incorporated in 2014 to replace the aging Kamov Ka-27 and act as a search and rescue, maritime research and anti-submarine warfare platform.
Development:
In the not-too-distant future, the Russian Navy was looking for an aircraft that could combine the robustness of a helicopter with the versatility of an airplane. It was then that Berulian aeronautical designer and engineer Eduardo Torres, known for his ability to create innovative aircraft, was hired by Kamov to develop a project that met the needs of the Russian Navy.
Eduardo Torres, who had already designed the Orni-02, a swing-wing aircraft that had impressed the aeronautical community with its efficiency and maneuverability, accepted the challenge and began working on the Orni-03 together with Kamov's most experienced workers.
The Orni-03, popularly known as the Russian Ornithopter, was designed to be a swing-wing aircraft, capable of combining the stability of a helicopter with the speed and efficiency of an airplane. Unlike the Orni-02 which made its wings change the angle of attack frequently to generate thrust, the wings of the Orni-03 only vibrated to generate thrust through the so-called (high-vibration effect), a phenomenon that was discovered by Eduardo Torres during tests of the Orni-02 in wind tunnels in 2009.
This phenomenon allowed the aircraft to perform complex and precise maneuvers at high speeds, however this phenomenon has an anomaly that allowed it to only operate at very high speeds above 110mph, below that the wings are unable to generate any type of thrust, forcing Eduardo Torres to design a vertical takeoff and landing engine right in the center of the Orni-03 to make it reach the ideal speed (high-vibration effect) where the wings gain maximum efficiency. Thus, the sole purpose of the central engine would be to perform vertical landing and takeoff, while the electric wings would operate in high-speed cruise flights.
Another problem to be resolved was the high vibration that caused fatigue and structural stress on the aircraft. The exact same problems that had led to the death of the old Orni-02 came back to haunt Eduardo Torres. However, one of the Russian engineers proposed creating organic wings from highly flexible and resistant living cells to withstand G loads and stress. The Moscow research laboratory, which had already studied this concept of organic engineering for years, agreed to create organic wings for Orni-03. The wings absorbed much of the vibration and regenerated from injuries caused by the rapid frequency of wing beats, thus giving great hope for the continuation of the project and cutting costs in half.
The Russian Navy was impressed with the Orni-03 design and decided to invest heavily in its production. The aircraft was equipped with the most advanced navigation and communication systems. The Orni-03 was tested in several troop transport and rescue missions, where it proved to be an extremely effective aircraft. Its ability to perform complex and precise maneuvers, combined with its robustness and versatility, has made it one of the most efficient aircraft in the world.
Matheus Torres was praised for his ability to create such an innovative and effective aircraft, and the Orni-03 that would later be named the Kamov Ka-335 became a symbol of the Russian Navy's ability to develop and operate high-tech aircraft.

The VTOL engine consumes fuel, remember to turn it off when reaching 150mph, the wings are 100% electric and will save a lot of fuel. You need to reach 110mph for the wings to gain maximum efficiency.
This aircraft requires a lot of piloting skill, And yes, everything is written in Russian in the cockpit, but the titles remain in English.
Goated build
SP 2❌ SO 2 [Simple Ornithopters]
@Quercon
Well this is cool as hell, Extraordinary work.
This is godamnn good
@MA2211CwCABaerospace True, a real ornithopter would need football field-wide wings to be able to fly. Also, there's no such engine that could imitate the flattering motion fast enough. But from a sci-fi perspective, they could work and these things are generally cool. I don't understand why only Dune portrays them.
Бляткоптер
good helicotper
Can i atleast see the HELICOPTER version of the Kamov Ka-335
Oh god 💀
@MA2211CwCABaerospace That's true, this Orni-03 is more of a performance demonstrator than something really practical.
It’s a cool idea for a military orphinopter, but in reality the amount of wings on the aircraft would not be able to make this fly.
