Background

The M1404 Mashir TATV is a multi-purpose articulated tracked carrier developed in the Federation. It was designed to carry heavy loads in difficult terrain like swamps, sand and snow in extreme weather conditions.

By the early 1960s, the Federation's increased need for a more advanced ATV was becoming obvious as the single-unit tracked snow and swamp-going vehicles in operation at that time could not carry payloads in excess of 5 tonnes. To fill the need for such vehicles, a specialized design bureau was established with the task of developing articulated tracked vehicles. Also military vehicle able to operate in the colder northern regions was deemed necessary.

Two-unit transport vehicles M1404|10, M1404|20 and M1404|30, with a load-carrying capacity of 10, 20 and 30 tons, respectively. Amphibious versions of the transporters with similar specifications as the regular transporters also exist.

The vehicle has also found itself playing civilian roles. Serving primarily as transport vehicles for the personnel who service the oil and gas pipelines throughout the Federation, for geologists and scientists who research remote and isolated regions. For different industries were produced several specialised versions: M1404 crane, M1404 excavator, M1404 refuelling vehicles, mobile workshops, mobile oil refineries, passenger transporters, fire-fighting vehicles. Vehicles of kind are in demand not only in the Federation but in various areas around the world in which logistical capabilities in unideal conditions is required.
