Challenge Overview
Participants are tasked with designing and building a functional jet fighter using modded parts. Each player may submit a maximum of two entries.
Rules & Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
Entry Type:
- Must be a jet fighter.
Mod Parts Usage:
- At least one part from the following mods is required:
- SP Plus / SP Extras ( [](SimplePlanes | SP Extra) )
- Ace Radar (Must include the Ace radar part) ( [](SimplePlanes | Ace Radar) )
- AntiMissile Ball (Must include the AMBall) ( [](SimplePlanes | Anti Missile Ball) )
- Tone Generator (Must include the Tone generator) ( [](SimplePlanes | Tone Generator) )
- Informative Components (Must include at least one part) ( [link](SimplePlanes | Informative Components) )
- At least one part from the following mods is required:
Cockpit View:
- A cockpit view (even minimalistic) must be present.
Performance Cost:
- Must not exceed 4200.
Control Documentation:
- Full controls must be documented:
- On the landing page.
- In the in-game instructions guide.
- Full controls must be documented:
Auto-Credit Rule:
- Proper attribution for mod usage is required.
Optional Mod Parts
- Moveable Blocks (At least one part) ( [](SimplePlanes | Moveable Blocks) )
- Slewmode (At least one part) ( [](SimplePlanes | SlewMode) )
Recommended Specifications
- Generation Range:
- Ideally between 3rd-gen and 5th-gen fighter standards.
- Deviations are permitted but may impact evaluation.
Control Guidelines
To ensure consistency, the following activation groups must be used:
| Function | Activation Group | |
| -------------------------- | ---------------- | --- |
| STOVL (if applicable) | Group 8 | |
| Weapons Loadout | Group 1 | |
| Taxi Controls & Lights | Group 2 | |
| Formation Lights | Group 3 | |
- Afterburner must be activated after the throttle certain threshold
* Other activation groups are free to be used as the contestant wishes
Evaluation Criteria
Entries will be scored based on the following categories:
| Category | Points | |
| -------------------------------------- | ------ | --- |
| Aesthetics | 10 | |
| Controlability | 35 | |
| Special Features / Functionalities | 20 | |
| Design Logic | 35 | |
1. Aesthetics (10 Points)
What We Look For:
- Visual Appeal: Does the jet have a polished, realistic, or creatively striking design?
- Proportions & Shape: Does it resemble a functional fighter jet (or a plausible fictional one)?
- Attention to Detail: Are there well-placed decals, panel lines, or small design elements that enhance realism?
- Cohesiveness: Do all parts fit together naturally, or does the design feel disjointed?
Penalty : Excessive part clipping (if it harms aesthetics) may be penalized.
2. Controlability (35 Points)
What We Look For:
- Responsiveness: Does the jet handle smoothly in flight? (Pitch, roll, yaw, and throttle response.)
- Stability: Does it maintain controlled flight without excessive wobbling or stalling?
- Takeoff/Landing Ease: Can it reliably take off and land without extreme difficulty?
- Control Layout: Are key functions (weapons, STOVL, lights) logically mapped per the Control Guidelines?
- Documentation Clarity: Are the controls well-explained in both the landing page and in-game instructions?
Penalties:
- Poor handling such as uncontrollable spins will lose points.
- Missing or unclear control documentation results in low points.
3. Special Features / Functionality (20 Points)
What We Look For:
- Innovative Systems: Does the jet have unique mechanics (e.g., VTOL, working radar, missile countermeasures)?
- Weapon Integration: Are weapons (if included) functional and well-implemented?
- Mod Part Usage: Does it creatively incorporate required mod parts (e.g., Ace Radar, AMBall, Tone Generator)?
- Optional Mods Bonus: Clever use of Moveable Blocks or Slewmode can earn extra credit.
Penalties:
- If required mod parts are only minimally used (e.g., just slapped on without purpose), points may be deducted.
4. Design Logic (35 Points)
What We Look For:
- Structural Integrity: Does the jet’s frame make sense aerodynamically?
- Weight Distribution: Is the center of mass balanced for stable flight?
- Functional Engineering: Are wings, thrusters, and control surfaces placed logically?
- Performance Efficiency: Does it stay within the 4,200 performance cost while maintaining functionality?
- Realism (Optional): Does it follow real-world jet design principles (e.g., wing shape, engine placement)?
Penalties
- Mandatory Rule Violations deduct 10 points each (e.g., missing cockpit, no required mod parts).
If a player submits more than two entries, only the two highest-scoring entries will be considered. The remaining entries' scores will be deducted from the player’s total.
Rewards
Top 3 Winners: 20 upvotes each.
- Top 4-10: 10 upvotes each.
Spotlight Feature: All top 10 entries below the host’s current points will receive a spotlight.
