SMC-130 Spec Ops [light]
SMC-130 Spec Ops is a modified C-130 cargo aircraft for the purpose of special operations and rescue operations. SMC-130 (Special Military Cargo -130) went through major modifications and was fitted with better avionics, countermeasures and JATOL system which allows the aircraft to take off and land in small unprepared runways or open fields quickly. Additionally the aircraft is fitted with two DECM pod on each side of the aircraft tail to defend itself against any airborne threat.
Why SMC-130? why not a helicopter? Well, a cargo aircraft enjoys all the plus side of a fixed wing aircraft. Compared to the rotary wing counterparts, it's faster, can carry more and better range and endurance. What it was lacking was the ability to land and take off from almost anywhere. That's where the JATOL (Jet Assisted Take off and Landing) system comes to play. This allows the aircraft to land and take off from tight unprepared runways or places as small as a football field. Remember, we are talking about a fixed wing aircraft. Combine that with the state of the art avionics and defense systems, SMC-130 will ensures a safe and fast deploying and extraction of your soldiers and hostages from hostile territory.
Flight instructions
Normal Take off and landing
• Throttle to 100% and wait till aircraft reaches 200km/h. Then pitch up.
• lineup with the runway and decrease throttle below 15% and maintain a steady approach.
JATOL instructions
automated Take off and landing
• Activate 1 and throttle to 100%. The JATOL system will engage automatically and the aircraft will take off immediately. Try to maintain a 30 degree pitch angle. Disengages after aircraft crosses 450km/h. Deactivate 1.
• Activate 2 and decrease throttle below 50% (Preferably below 15%) and maintain a steady approach. The JATOL system will engage when the aircraft speed is below 350km/h and the altitude above ground level is less than 25m. Note, once the system engages the aircraft will lose speed rapidly, so don't come in for a landing too slow. The JATOL system will try to cushion the landing but it has its limitations. Also, keep a positive pitch angle when the JATOL kicks in as the nose of the aircraft will drop because of lack of airspeed.
Manual use
• Activate 3 and select FB
for booster and RB
for tear booster and press and hold fire button.
• Activate 7 for lights
DECM pod
Directed Energy CounterMeasures pod. They are camera aimed and limited to +90/-180 on the horizontal axis and +45/-90 on the vertical axis so that you won't shoot your self down. Also they are kinda buggy. Sometimes they one shots aircraft and sometimes they don't. The tracers, for some reason doesn't show up on high graphics settings. Probably something to do with the bullets traveling literally at light speed. Go to Camer view and fire guns to use.
important, the aircraft must reach all the above mentioned requirements for the JATOL system to work in automated mode. Plus, JATOL works with the current weight configuration so be mindful of adding weight.

This is the light (low part count) version of the planned full interior version. Kinda funny how the low part version was made first before the full version. Only the fuselage and main gear bay of the main version is done and it's already sitting at 200+ parts.

@SPsidearm you can limit them with funky trees. That's how I limited their movement here. You might want to keep that in mind if you want more turning range.
@overlord5453
The main issue of Camera aim is the Overturn of the Rotator.
This healing Not-so DECM Pods will be mounted on Ospreys.
@SPsidearm exactly what I was trying to prevent. But I didn't want to limit it too much. And yes, you can use it.
Originally was planning to place only one pod at the tip of the tail, but that's where the boosters are and realistically speaking, it would get cooked. But functionally, it would have been much better considering the fact that you have more room and no risk of shooting yourself.
"Shoot yourself down"
I accidentally hit the wing
The DECM Pods, can i use it?
As a Heal beamer
Nice job, I love the Rocket Assisted Take off
@overlord5453 thanks
@MIGFOXHOUND31BSM26 sure
@overlord5453 can I use your JATOS
@Graingy 🤭
Ah, somehow didn't pick up that this was a replica lol.
Thought it was just inspired by a C-130, not literally one.
@Graingy there are supposed to be windows there. Maybe it's because how I positioned them. Not exactly a pro at SP.
The lowest six windows are what I'm getting at. They look out of place imo.
Otherwise looks fine.
@Graingy but it looks good from very far away right?
@overlord5453 Glass
@Graingy it's the
long radom
(it is kinda funny) from theYMC-130
. Or are you referring to the glass?The cockpit looks a little funny but otherwise this is beautiful!
@overlord5453
Alright
Plane: This
@SPsidearm tag me. I will see what I can do.
Yo @overlord5453
Can u add JATOL To one of my planes?
Looks good
I love this dude its awesome 👍🏽
