The Saunders-Roe SR. A/1 was a prototype flying boat fighter aircraft created by the British company Saunders-Roe. It was the world's first jet-propelled water-based aircraft. The idea for the SR. A/1 began during World War II after Japan's use of military floatplanes and the new turbojet engine. In mid-1943, Saunders-Roe proposed the jet-powered seaplane to the Air Ministry, which later issued a specification for it and funded three prototypes. Development faced delays due to other projects, and the war ended before any prototypes were finished. In the years following, the prototypes would fly but 1 crashed. One is preserved to this day. The concept for seaborne fighters was deemed irrelevant once carriers became more prevalent.

Made to 1-1 scale, my model of the SRA.1 has a fully modeled airfoil, working floats, and a land gear (not for landing)

Controls are easy. AG1 for engines, AG2 for land gear ejection, AG3 for water traverse, AG4 for Gyro

@CirrusX my point was that why did anyone think that having the inlet so close to the water was a good idea

@SemedianIndustries Well, these are first generation turbojets so they are very inefficient. Split spool? Multi stage turbine and compressor sections? What's that?!

Those engines look so thirsty, for seawater, not fuel

I thought this was from an old anime or something, didn't expect it to be an actual prototype
