LORE:
Since the two split Lukrativstens united in 2003, they bought the lands of Eastern Iceland and Svalbard from Norway. However these territories were hundreds of kilometers away from any other populated area under the same country. Also, since there were no airlines that had a nonstop route from the capital, Glickheyt, the government had to found a flag carrier airline. Most of their land was in Scandinavia bordering the Belaukran Republic and the Federation of Buryatia (Russia and the territories of Ukraine and Belarus). And since they had some assets from Icelandair, they founded a state-owned airline and merged the two. Icelandair, a few years prior to the purchase of eastern Iceland, had ordered new D-01-200s. When the two airlines merged, the RCP D-01s older than 5 years old were refurbished and had a poll on social media and in the national war memorial park on what the airline’s name should be. The choices were the following:
- InterScand(inavia)/TranScand(inavia)
- Air Lukrativsten
- NAS (Northern Airborne Systems)
- Aerogance
Majority of the people agreed the name ‘Aerogance’ was the best, and the name stuck. Currently the routes served by the D-01 in the fleet are:
- Oslo to Copenhagen
- Helsinki to Egilstadir
- Helsinki to Longyearbyen via Egilstadir
- Stockholm to Warsaw
- Stockholm to Kaliningrad (Poland, not Buryatia)
- Glickheyt to London
- Glickheyt to Berlin
- Glickheyt to Moscow
- Glickheyt to Kyiv
- Glickheyt to Dubai via Odesa, Beirut, and Riyadh
- Glickheyt to New York-JFK via Reykjavik and Nuuk
Note that Glickheyt is located 5.67 miles northwest of the Norwegian village of Bøyum.
