Interstellar Frontier I

2,002 AppreciateJake  8.6 years ago

Fully functioning verticle rocket/shuttle combination.

***New Installment to the Interstellar Frontier series here: https://www.simpleplanes.com/a/lKWVg1/Interstellar-Frontier-II-Emerald-Voyager***

Instructions:
1) Retract Landing Gear (unless you need the drag to keep the rocket verticle).
2) Throttle 100%.
3) Press 1, wait for it to finish.
4) Press 2, wait for it to finish.
5) Press 3 to release rocket, you'll need to continuously stabilize it ever so slightly with pitch controls.
6) Once you're as high as you want to go, kill the throttle and press 4 to release the shuttle, then immediatley pull back on your pitch [you'll be flying upside down].
7) To stabilize the shuttle, throttle to 5%-15% and manually adjust your position.
8) Finish stabilization.

Congrats! You're flying the Interstellar Frontier I!

Side Notes:
- Make sure you don't take the throttle past 25% after you release the shuttle, because the shuttle has modded engines and can go insanely fast, but, unfortunately, go past 1300mph and it'll tear itself to shreds.
- You may have to play around with the fuselage weights on the opposite side of the shuttle. Sometimes the rocket flies vertically, sometimes it deviates. Really just depends on how soon you release the rocket.
- Shuttle can also land in water.
- Try keeping your speed low if you plan on landing. Deceleration is difficult.

Thanks for the download!

@Grooghan yeah this one had the problem too. I managed to make it fly straight, but it leaned backwards too hard. That's what the weight are for. Also, keep the shuttle engines off until you detach the shuttle. My next design is going to be a shuttle that detaches more efficiently and stabilizes quicker...
