Hello there! my entry for the Tank Challenge, I made this tank inspired by this blueprint, doesn't looks quite the same, i know
But here it is!

Mk. 23B/38 "Praetorian"

Description

Praetorian or simply Praetor was an assault tank developed by Obelia Empire and manufactured by Myria Heavy Factory as a competitor of M5s with better and heavier equipment and armor. It eventually replaced M5s in 1940.

Despite it weighted more than the M5, Praetorian looks slightly less bulkier than M5, it's 10m lenght, 4m widht and 4m height. It's weighted over 60 tonnes, almost twice heavier than M5 due to its heavy armor. It's powered by Y20 Diesel Engine, producing over 950HP this tank only capable reaching 22kmph due to its sheer mass.

However, Praetorian equiped with heavier 152mm cannon, and two 75mm and a 76mm cannons as secondary weapon, compared to M5 with only a 90mm and two 5mm cannons as compensation to its weight. Praetorian also equiped with better radio transmission, the regular variant even exceed radio transmission ability on M5C, the Command variant. Praetorian also heavily armored, it's 190mm-60mm thick, making it such a strong tank. All this specification fit the tank roles as Heavy Assault Tank, to breakthrough enemy defense line, supporting the infantry advance (Much like infantry tank).

But due to its lack of mobility and sheer size, this also come with very similar problem to M5. It still have large silhouette and slow mobility. Limited movement in urban area also limit this tank role. The tank production stopped in 1943 due to prolonged war that cost the empire too much, so they must efficiently uses their resources. Only 350 were built, 50 of it transformed into long barreled 152mm assault gun.

History

In 1939, Myria Heavy Factory took the contract to make an assault tank. A tank that capable to breakthrough enemy line without taking any critical or significant damage. KAI developed M5 Assault Tank, using WW1 inspired tank while MHF developed a newer design. This design provide significant advantage over M5 but finished after M5 Production in 1939. This newer designs made around newest 152mm Cannon, specifically designed to fit the cannon.
First prototype finished with only the cannon, but this cause the tank doesn't have any ability to support infantry againts small arms and armored vehicles. Second prototype added sponson guns like the M5 to add additional power, but the limited gun angle limit it's ability. So in the final prototype the added a fully rotatable turret with its own command, loader and gunner to provide 360° fire cover, they also add machinegun for the loader to increase the capability even further. This prototypes were built and tested in testing ground near city of Plita, giving it the nickname of "Behemoth Of Plita"
And finally In the same year, 1939, Praetorian massive produced and sent to battle to start it's career as assault tank.
