Grandeur Fortuna
REFLECTION ON THIS BUILD A MONTH LATER:
why did I have to suck at flight models
Brief History:
The Fortuna, named after the Greek goddess of luck and fortune, is a fictional single seat fighter designed by the Grandeur Aeronautical Co. in the late 1930s. Although it would be present by 1939, early models had lackluster performance compared to its competition, and would see limited action during the Second World War. Even so, many of the Fortuna’s later models would be exported to other countries, and would even see operational use as far as the 1960s by South American and Middle-Eastern air forces (albeit extremely outdated).
Basic Statistics:
Stall/Takeoff Speed - 68mph/59kn
Top Speed - 324mph/282kn (If you wait for a few years)
Target Landing Speed - 85mph/74kn to 115mph/100kn
x4 20mm Cannons, 400 rounds (32.4 seconds of shooting)
x1 500kg Bomb
Controls:
Standard directional controls
VTOL - Flaps (essentially an off-brand airbrake, since that’s all the flaps do)
AG1 - Drop bomb
Random Notes:
- Although probably a bad decision, I sacrificed top speed for more realistic acceleration. I tried to balance it out as much as I could, but it didn’t work out all too well.
- Yes, I know this aircraft uses a disgusting amount of parts for it’s quality. I’ll try to get that lower next time or at least have the quality make up for the part count!
- Yes, I probably prematurely published this build.
- If I had to be completely honest, I was somewhat lazy when making this, as seen from the plain cockpit and livery. The main reason was due to the fact I wasn’t all too proud of this craft, but I was too far in to drop it. For the next build, I’ll actually try to get as much detail as I can put!
- I tried to get the aircraft’s performance to be as smooth as I could like my other builds, but it isn’t as perfect I would’ve liked it to be.
- The take off and stall speed is extremely unrealistic, I'll try to get it on point next build.
- No matter how hard I tried (a.k.a. like an hour), I couldn’t make the custom control surface for the rudder look right. It always seemed off for some reason, so I just scrapped it. I’m sorry!
- As long as you don't look down all too much, the cockpit looks alright. Kinda.
- I'm open to extra criticism!
Happy Flying

This look like those Low-poly Meshes of an aircraft. Lol
Also its simplicity is what I like
Looks and performs great! Its unrealistic flight characteristic makes me question why it performed poorly against its competitors. It's really maneuverable for what it is! Its huge part count come from its panel body I assume, which makes a great crash scene. I accidentally crashed trying to destroy a convoy and the left over looks like a real plane crash haha
This is one sexy beast of an aircraft! I took her off from Bandit and landed at ... Yeager ... the one at the other side of the island anyway. I absolutely wrecked the bridges with the cannons which was plenty of fun. I wonder if there isn't a way to make the cannons fire by the same control as the ordinary guns? Take off was easy landing wasn't quite so ... she wanted to hover in the ground effect for about 2/3 of the runway. I wanted to taxi back around and realized ... it doesn't have a rudder or turning tailwheel! Ack! I now see that you left out the rudder due to design issues so that's okay and honestly she looks great with just the tail skid. For some reason it didn't recognize the bomb and as a result I didn't get to do anything real fun with that. My only other question is; Why didn't you put windows into the frames?
Yeah me too lol@Lixcuudis

@WarHawk95 D’accord, I’ll give it a go then. I might have some trouble talking, but I’ll try!
@Lixcuudis that's the point, dude
To practice ur french, since u'll be surrounded by wild french ppl like me
@WarHawk95 I wish I could, but I don’t think I know enough french (since I’m still learning)
@Lixcuudis wanna join my discord ?
@HeavyHeavytheC22 That may or may have not been the aircraft I heavily based this on, I can't build anything without a few references for the life of me lol
J-22?
@WarHawk95 Oui, mais pas beacoup
Do you speak french ?
@rexrexThezion for some reason all the first few comments were removed. No idea why that happened though, i havent touched them.
why did my comment get removed lol
I really like how you built the fuselage. The panel folds strongly resemble the rivet lines of a real plane and it creates a really cool effect. You've got a real talent for this.
I actually rather like the simplistic design of the aircraft, even with the high part count.
The style is really good wow!
@DarDragon Yeah, a conflict started to spark up, thankfully it didn't escalate all too much
Awesome!
...
But the comment section is pretty messy xD
Nice!
@rexrexThezion I'll try.
@Lixcuudis you should do that. very little people will care about the flight characteristic of your plane. If you want something that people will download and save to their simpleplanes aircraft folder, you should put in that extra effort.
@Lixcuudis no problem
