I would suggest you to practice with fuselage blocks. They can make a great shape if you used to them. After that, learn a bit of wing panelling. This will make your aircraft super appealing if done correctly. One last thing, don't use dark-colored schemes for the thumbnail. Instead go with not too bright and not too dark color scheme. This could help a lot.

I do update my planes time to time but I'm working on a hole line right now to upgrade the ships
