KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, legally Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V.('Royal Aviation Company Plc.'), is the flag carrier of the Netherlands. KLM is headquartered in Amstelveen, with its hub at nearby Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. It is part of the Air France–KLM group and a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance. Founded in 1919, KLM is the oldest operating airline in the world, and has 35,488 employees with a fleet of 110 (excluding subsidiaries) as of 2021. KLM operates scheduled passenger and cargo services to 145 destinations.

Soon an RCP Engineering D-01 rolls out in 1989, KLM sees the plane then order 4 D-01's, it became popular with Asiana Airlines too, so they order 26 of them, which makes KLM the first airline to introduce the D-01 and an European launch customer with an german airliner LTU, which KLM is with Asiana Airlines, Varig and LTU first introduce their D-01 in 1989.
